@bals16325 ай бұрын
I doubt its possible but it'd be crazy to see the water dissolve when it touches ground and for the ground to become a bit darker for a while to make it look like a puddle or something. Gwater 2 feels more convincing than like 99% of water physics in games and it's in this old engine from 2003 but the biggest problem is that it feels like everything is coated in aerogel. It's one of the features im not expecting will happen but knowing Mee and how crazy this guy is he's probably already been brainstorming solutions for this exact thing for months now.
@Milbyte115 ай бұрын
correct me if im wrong but i remember mee mentioning that the info he gets on particle hit is very limited so i doubt it includes the material/texture in that hitinfo.
@trashtrash21695 ай бұрын
Isn't that just because of the color? It'd look more realistic if it was just clear. Then the surface would just look wet. Only the concrete would get darker, but it would also still be glossy for a while.
@Meetric15 ай бұрын
I've been brainstorming since gwater1, I have yet to think of a (non performance obliterating) solution.
@xentrix895 ай бұрын
I only know A little bit of unity but i could make it switch to another particle system on collision that has the darker color/texture the particle system can be timed to show the water get dark to light as it "drys" aswell the water would need a dissolve effect on hit aswell that might be another particle system depends

@hoffer_moment mental ray, starting all the way back in early 1986. Initially we were just two developers and a physicist. Maybe my most influential contribution, but it had to be retired after more than 30 years due to its aging architecture. It wasn't feasible anymore to tuck on new features. I was part of the RnD team on Nvidia's Gelato and Iray. That effort took roughly six years. I continue to develop in-house tools and machine learning solutions for our VFX pipeline @ Das Werk. I also contributed a few technical papers over the past 35 years.

Another crazy good video man your killing it. Something to think about implementing could be some sort of absorption system for stray particles. For example in the instance where the small bit of fluid is stuck to the rim of the tub at 0:24, those particles might just fade out or shrink in scale until they are no longer visible. Resulting in those small rims and sticky instances of only a few particles fading away, leading to something that might be more realistic, and to my naive mind more performant due to the particles being killed. Just some food for thought, keep up the great work!

@Meetric15 ай бұрын
C++ "backend" with a Lua "frontend". I started making E2 (gmod addon) scripts in 2019 but didn't really start working on Lua and more advanced projects until 2021. This is my second C++ project, with my first being gwater1 (Though most of my work was on researching the FleX interfaces while my friend (other creator) actually did the C++). In all honesty all of my programming experience led to this moment. -all the small scripting projects helped me grasp the idea of coding -gwater1 gave me a good feel for the FleX interface -Seamless Portals taught me how to use rendertargets and basic vector math -Procedural Terrain taught me collision generation, mesh instancing, UI design, and codebase management -InfMap taught me how to properly manage an API and what *not* to do when making public APIs -The voxel engine (now abandoned) taught me how to properly avoid scope creep (eg. FULLY define your scope BEFORE making a project) -I did a few videos on EGSM right before gwater2 which was a shader base that let me get into basic custom shader creation And in the middle I had school projects which taught me Java and manual memory management. C++ is actually really easy to grasp when you know the basic concepts. Anyways, thats my long rant. Thanks for asking
