Considering you need to have at least 2 turns (4,5), full Mana and spell Mana spent, plus slow spells need to be cast, and Gwen needs hallow stacks to work, so no spell Mana til past turn 5 at least, one could say there is potential however it's kinda highrolly and very dependent on draw

the nice part in my opinion is that Riven alone work well with hallowed, when she's lvl up she will gain double buff from it, the sad part is that the riven package doesn't work well with hallowed, so you will have to chose between working toward the blade or toward hallowed if you try to do both you will lose lot of efficiency

@@SuperLotus this is not a space probleme, it's an efficiency probleme, you will have some blade unit and some hallowed unit, but which one do you play, if you play your blade first then by turn 5 you won't have hallowed buff, if you play your hallowed, you won't have the blade to lvl up riven, it will slow down the deck and while you expect this to happen on turn 5, which would be quite deadly, in reality it will happen on turn 7-8, if it happen.

I don't see anyone talking about it, but it look like there IS room for Leblanc to be good with this champ, cause she became super easy to triger with hallow high attacks and sumoning a 3 mana ephemeral copy of Gwen is doubling the snip snips. Plus you get 1 more hallow Stack. Plus reputation is easy to triger, plus noxus Can rally, etc...

I really like Gwen's flexibility, she is exactly what SI needed: a flexible champion that isn't hard to level up (even if you don't build around harrow she can still level up with 2 attacks because of her drain ability). And you don't even need to protect her since you benefit from the fact she dies due to the harrow buffs.

The entire gwen package is just anti-aggro when you think about it: draining from the enemy nexus, letting your opponent attack into your hallowed units, and one of the support followers has lifesteal!

Shurima + Gwen package seems kind of nuts. The new spell that gives overwhelm and spell shield on Gwen and getting hallowed buffs on ruin runner/renekton seems super hard to deal with. Really like that the champions from this expansion so far don’t really fit into a prebuilt deck and have some flexibility.

The Eternal dancers ruin reckoned loop CAN be infinite, but it’s a attack effect, and it only works if you use Midnight Raid on Eternal Dancers only, so if they get blocked enough to the point of risking death, the chain breaks.

People sleeping on the fact that Gwen doesn't have to specifically gain power from Hallowed. Put her in a Bard deck. Include the printer package with Chroniclers and possibly splinter souls. On top of everything, Eternal Dancers are going to resummon either Rekindler OR Meduli OR Gwen herself. It's significantly slower but you can end games without need to ever worry about Hallowed stacking. Plus generally Bard package is good at protecting units via sheer stats.

@@mor4439 idk, rally effects makes Hollowed an insane scaling fast. Leveled up Gwen, with JUST +4 hallowed, can drain 4, rally, then get drain 6. And 4 hallowed for leveled Gwen is a low ball goal. This ALSO doesn't include if Tylbac (or whatever the flame demon bears name is) will work out. If it does, that simple combo is now a OTK, full recovery tool so eveb if they manage to survive by healing the nexus, your nexus health is reset. This being said, I'm unsure how broken it would be on other units. Overwhelm units have the most potential to break it, but SI does inherently lack unit survival tools, so that may be the balancing act it needs.

Idk of the top of my head if it's possible to debuff yourself, and if it is it would probably be a very obscure deck that is not meta

I'm hyped for Akshan Gwen. - Akshan is just a good champ with a lot of flexibility - Gwen + hallowed = scaling/sustain/lethal threat - Ruin Runner, Kai'sa spell, Absolver = even more massive lethal potential - Shurima = Ancient Hourglass, Quicksand, Preservarium, Desert Duel (maybe), Shaped Stone - SI = vengeance, Gwen's spell, Glimpse, Vile Fiesta So much good juju in these two regions.

I think you don't need to protect any of gwen's follower, because midrange SI always exist with harrowing as a finisher so even if all of your unit die, you can drop the harrowing bomb and end the game right there and then

I think the scary thing would be Gwen and rally effects. Nexus could be good with landmark and if her attack effect counts as a skill (don't think it does, thinking about it), then she can double her drain at level 2 with 1 Tybulk. With Demacia, a lot of rally and buff effects, or even going scout route since hallowed works multiple times. Idk, Gwen seems fun to me.

I hate running it as a 1-of in my Deep decks and whatever other SI stuff I use, but at least in Deep in particular, it does so much even if it just gets it tossed with mindgaming my opponent. And it gets you out of situations you absolutely don't deserve winning, and it's worse being on the receiving end. Horrible card honestly, I don't know how they could change it but I'm so glad they made a 3 mana unit-based version of it, it actually looks fun in that form.

Think of it like applying impact. Like Impact, it stacks and each hollowed unit that dies gives gives 1st attacker (or leftmost attacker, if that helps) +1/+0 PER hollowed unit that has died this game. You can also see it as a form of lurk that likes when it's units die because that converts into more scaling.

I feel that Riot is correct in that Demacia is most likely the best region to pair with Gwen. As you said SI can't really protect its units and Noxus isn't much better at that. Demacia gives that protection and has easy access to rally. Cataclysm on Gwen is pretty nuts too. I'm trying to think if there's a better champion than Lucian to include in the deck. Maybe 2 Lucian 1 J4.

Her level 2 reads "I drain 1 damage per 2 attack I have", and if you watch the video, it acts like a Leviathan trigger, machine-gunning 1 damage at a time per tick. It doesn't stack as a flat "Drain 8", it's "Drain 1 but do it 8 times", so Tough Nexus does counter her level 2 (unless her skill is buffed by Tybault, Funsmith, or Syren)

SI Ionia is a very strong region pairing, used to be Viego's best deck (and in my opinion, still is) before Legion Deserter. Ionia gives a lot of protection that SI generally lacks and needs for its key units. That said, there's a bit of anti-synergy between the two because Ahri wants to recall while Hallowed wants their units to die, and Hallowed onto a leveled Ahri is where the OTK idea comes from. Although, Bard Ahri is anti-synergistic on paper but is a Tier 1 deck in practice, so... It's definitely worth checking out in my opinion. If there's issues, it's not the region pairing
