In his prime Robert Goulet had one of the richest, most beautiful theatrical voices on stage. That timbre!

You are lucky, Jackie. I was five years old when she did Chicago, so I never had the pleasure of seeing Gwen live on stage.

Was any thinking human under the impression that Verdon would be allowed to do a quick walk on, say a line or two, get a couple of laughs, then go hide in a closet in any theater in New York, let alone during a Lincoln Center 'Sweet Charity Concert'? No audience will permit her to speak or leave without an extended ovation and a bow. They were not going to shut up and pretend one of Broadway's greatest is some feature player .

OMG That door should have been weighted OR had be SET with hand brakes. (I literally just made up a bunch of words trying to explain those vertical clamp-like mechanisms that keep a set piece from rolling, when locked.)

SPOILER: I'm just educating myself to Gwen Verdon and Fosse via the F/X miniseries. When I saw her fall and the wall move, I just assumed it was just a funny gag put into this final performance of Verdon to have some light fun with the material, the legend of Verdon, and using a playful "this is for charity performance, we've all seen the show before, let's have some fun with the material tonight" attitude". Maybe I'm wrong. From just seeing this clip, I assumed whoever was the actress playing Gwen's role here (I've never seen the show) had just stepped aside for this scene so Gwen could play it for fun and nostalgia. Am I wrong? Can someone set me straight?

@@guesswho2378 That IS Gwen in this clip! And it would absolutely make sense that it was a prat fall. I just know she was the end of her "heyday" so I wouldn't be surprised! She is so fascinating.

It was staged that way you can tell by gwen trying to to piss her self laughing at it I'd actually say she took the brake off to add more comedy to the show personally

She died in her daughter’s home of a heart attack at 75 years old. Have some respect and consideration for family members who could be reading your asinine comment. If you think you saw someone who looked like her walking past you on the beach, good for you.
