Preserving???? Nah Rather hornbill bird is an endangered species and according to the wildlife protection act none can hunt,poach,trade on endangered species so I doubt there will be any showcase on the real hornbill bird and incase if anyone did ,that particular person might/will face the consequences as per the law👍🏻

Hi! My fellow Human, Who have watched and commented on this video. I am that Manipuri Guy who talks about Hornbill birds in Hornbill Festival. Let me explain what I think. So yeah the state of Manipur ( in which i was born and brought up ) has an annual festival call Sangai Festival. Sangai is an endanger species and environmentalist in Manipur and all over the world has tried to preserve and protect Sangai but nobody cares and still Sangai is on the verge of its own extinction. The essence of Sangai festival shall be the protection and preservation of the endanger Sangai but it's all about attracting tourist from outside and inside (in the name of culture,tradition, heritage and what not). And trust me, within the Sangal festival we have everything (except) having a serious talk about the importance of Sangai as a part of being a Manipuri. Likewise I think ( if i am not wrong) the essence of Hornbill Festival lies in the thinking that Hornbill has its significance to the folklores and folktales of Naga society and it has to be preserved and protected so that Naga society ( through Hornbill) has its role to play ( both individually and collectively) to show its own strength and misforture in front of the world. And to those who is strictly environmentalist, i am just an individual who loves to question what is real. And to those who is strictly conservatist, i am just an individual who loves to question what is given to me. And to someone who ask about the crisis in Manipur ( when i question about Hornbill) Who am i to answer. Iam just a lonely traveller. Iam Furkan And Iam an absolute Nomad. Ps: Ahh Grammar Nazi.. trust me Iam a native speaker. Iam sorry. Let all of us enjoy Djs and late night party everyday,everytime,everywhere. He did not say or even imply that he wanted to see them caged. Admit it, hornbills are close to extinct in the naga hills and it really is ironic. If there were any, we could've had a sanctuary for them and tourists would actually be able to see them and have a deeper understanding of what this bird means to us.

Something to note Hornbill festival we defined it as festival of festival. Thus these should be the place where we promote and focus more on our vibrant and diverse culture rather than implementing western culture. Also, performance of the performer should be based/related on culture/cultural fusions and not pops or what so ever. These might give more impact on foreigner when they leave this place.
