About to be manufactured in Brazil in 2025, GMW's best-seller in the domestic market has already undergone a makeover in China.
Currently imported from the Asian country, the Haval H6 has undergone a makeover inside and out in its home country. At the invitation of GWM, UOL Carros checked out the new features of the mid-size SUV live from the automaker's headquarters in Baoding, China.
According to our findings, these new features will not initially be introduced in the Brazilian H6, which will be produced at the factory that GWM is finishing in Iracemápolis, in the interior of São Paulo, with its inauguration scheduled for May of this year. The restyling should only arrive in Brazil in 2026.
In China, the H6 can already be purchased with the new look, presented in April 2024 at the Beijing Auto Show: the front grille has become larger and features blocks with a metallic appearance and paint with a darker variation of the tone seen on the rest of the body.
The bumpers and taillights are also new - they have a new shape and have lost the illuminated bar of the current H6 - the Haval emblem has been repositioned to the area between the taillights on the trunk lid, just below the rear window.
In the cabin, there are more new features. The multifunction steering wheel has a rounded center and a smaller diameter, while the multimedia center has a new operating system and has become larger, going from the current 12.3 inches to 14.6 inches.
The “floating” central console is another modified item: it has lost the rotary gear selector, repositioned to the right side of the steering column and given the shape of a lever, like in Mercedes-Benz cars.
The electronic parking brake actuator has also been removed from the console, making room for an induction cell phone charger and a cup holder, capable of accommodating two units.
At first glance, the cabin has lost almost all physical buttons, concentrating even more adjustments on the multimedia screen.
In addition, there were changes to the interior trim, which improved the cabin finish - this includes the power window and exterior mirror adjustment buttons, which are now made of metal.
At the same time, the rear doors still feature hard plastic on the upper part, next to the glass.
As GWM had already announced, the Brazilian production of the H6 will include all four versions currently sold in our country and foresees the conversion of the 1.5 turbo gasoline engine to flex.
The entire H6 range is hybrid and combines the 1.5 turbo engine with some level of electric assistance.
The entry-level Haval H6 is the HEV2, a conventional hybrid with a self-recharging battery. It has a suggested price of R$ 219 thousand, 243 hp of power and 54 kgfm of torque. This configuration has front-wheel drive and does not have the ability to run on electricity alone.
The other versions of the H6 are plug-in hybrids, equipped with a larger battery that can be recharged via an electrical outlet, and the option of running in 100% electric mode.
Costing R$244,000, the H6 PHEV19 has 326 hp of power and 54 kgfm of combined torque. It also has front-wheel drive and the range without using fuel is 74 km according to the Inmetro (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology) cycle.
The two most expensive configurations of the Haval H6 are the PHEV34 and the GT, priced at R$286,000 and R$324,000, respectively.
Both come with two electric motors, one on each axle, associated with the 1.5 gasoline engine. Thus, they have all-wheel drive and more expressive performance figures: 393 hp and 80.8 kgfm.
They also come with a larger battery and, therefore, provide greater range in electric mode: 113 km of autonomy according to Inmetro measurements.
