When I was growing up my grandmother used to tell me how she would go down to Gwydir castle with her grandmother to collect the washing for Lord Carrington and take it back to her house in Llanwrst to wash it. My grandmother was born around 1898. Until now, I never thought about looking up the history of Gwydir but I now know that what she was telling us must have been true!

My 6th Great Grandmother was a Wyne she is connected to John so glad you have restored the home I have other family like the Maccuddins that there castle is in ruins, Im 80% Great Britain My fathers family came from Wales Bloyth who married Mary Wyne havent found much on them ,Thank you so much for saving my family home wish more people cared about history I want to visit my families history someday.

Will visit this wonder house very soon. Wonderful judy how you both put alot of time into it and looks amazing. I would love to do what you both have done to save a wonderful place. I only read this morning about the floods and water coming into this wonderful house, i do believe this is a danger to your lives and i do think flood defences should be put into place to save yourselfs and this house and the work and money that has been spent on it.

I actually stayed here when I was a kid my dad and uncle's were working on it and the lady who owned it her name was Joan she was a lovely lady good memories told ghost storys by a roaring indoor fire it was a magical time memories like that last forever

Is the interior still original along with its furnishings and artwork and tapestries?

Some of it. Most of the interior and the furnishing inside were sold off in the 1920s. A lot of the furniture ended up in museums and William Randolph Hearst the American newspaper magnate bought some of the rooms.

Did you have Corbett relatives who came to the Colonies in the 1700’s? Our records have a gap.

@@Justin.Martyr from what I read it was a maid that John had an affair with and got pregnant. I don't know her name. Not sure exactly how true that is but it's what I read
