Thank you. Im about to start a semester for a theatre make up class. Im going to school for costume design actually but I have had dozens of people tell me I shouldn’t be going to college for costume/fashion design and i should just teach myself from youtube. But i feel like i need school i want all the skills i can learn. It’s different than teaching yourself. Everyone makes me feel dumb for going to school.

There’s actually a TON you will learn in fashion and/or costume design school, depending on the quality of the school of course. You can learn how to draft patterns, learning period styling, sewing corsets etc. Without feedback from teachers on your work there’s only so much you can learn by watching others alone.

Thank you for your video! I'm considering going to MUD. Did you have any experience with the character design classes?
@GwynethPricePanos4 жыл бұрын
Yes I took the first character class but not the one where they made molds and prosthetics from scratch in the lab. I highly recommend the character classes! I learned so much!! I talk about going back and taking the lab class some day... who knows.

I’m 16 years old and I really want to go MUD, I’m mostly worried if I will even get in but I’ve seen so many people say that going to school is a waste of time, but I really want to go get a license for makeup. If you could give me some advice or tips? I would really appreciate it.
@GwynethPricePanos4 жыл бұрын
There is no license for makeup. You can get an esthetician’s license though. Working at a cosmetic counter is another great way to learn. There are a lot of helpful client comfort tricks you learn with an instructor, also all the things I mention in my video which is why I personally felt it was a valuable experience but not everyone agrees with me. That’s fine

Thank you so much 😊 🙏I would like to ask…..Makeup school goes from $7k to $20k is that true?
@GwynethPricePanos2 жыл бұрын
Oh shoot I’m not sure. I don’t remember how much it cost to be honest. I remember my kit at the time was a little over $1000. Plus there were living expenses. But I don’t remember tuition. I’m sorry. I’d call some schools and ask the cost, if they don’t list it online.

the most expensive group of courses at mud la is around 20k

I want to go to school to learn how to do makeup. Is that something I could learn at the school? Most of the videos that I watched they always say practice practice but honestly even though I practice I feel like I need to have someone guide me you know.
@GwynethPricePanos3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they teach you about face shapes, eye shapes, colors, hygiene, they give you constructive criticism and then there’s also lots of guided practice.
