Central diff lock and Atrac system performs on any ground excellent. Even on a highway cruising on a long trips this car covers everything from daily car to offroad adventures. What can you wish more...😎

Those Eibach shocks look small, maybe 2" in outer diameter (~1.8" in actual capacity)? The GX470 is a heavy off-road vehicle and most folks migrate to 2.5" shocks with and without reservoirs because 2.5" shocks provide twice the capacity as a 2" shock. The dynamic load on the GX470 on a rutted terrain (especially at higher speed) put it near the upper limit of a 2" shock. For slow off-roading, the 2" shocks would work fine. First gen Raptors come with 2.5" shocks and current gen Ratpors have migrated to 3.0" shock (which provide twice the capacity as a 2.5" shock or 4 times the capacity as a 2" shock). I think the reason Eibach shocks are not well known is because there are other well known off-road oriented suspension companies like King, Fox, OME, and Icon out there that offer better and bigger shocks (and kits) dedicated for the off-road community. Current Eibach Pro Truck shocks are 2" in diameter where as most major off-road suspension vendors offer 2.5", 3", and 3.5" shocks with standard and extended length. Eibach springs on the other hand are well known and I have been running one for over a decade on my 4x4s.

If your wheel wells are gone you should either get a snorkel or a warm air intake. Your stock intake breathes from the fenderwell and you are one fun puddle splash from needing a new motor

One thing... the Lexus SUV's mostly available here in Panama are the GX 460's. Is there an incredible difference between the 460's and the 470's?
@j_freed2 жыл бұрын
@@AdventureRich There’s a good video on KZbin explaining it, one major difference is things like clearance, and the takeoff and departure angle are worse on the slightly longer comfier 460. The newer 460 also has more power and torque than the 470, but only slightly, and this is offset by the added weight of the vehicle.

Did you have the rear locker engaged? Any wheel lifts while reving and then landing the wheel on the hard ground? I prefer stock tires as that eliminate the strain on rear diff on hard offroading. Too big wheel with larger radius cause too much strain on drive train.

I think you mean the Toyota 8in rear diffs in the GX470 are weak. It is one of the known weak spots for a GX470. Not Land Cruiser strong but at least Toyota upgraded the rear diffs to 8.2 in the newer GX.
@AdventureRich3 жыл бұрын
@@runnerxa Good info here, thank you. What year GX is this? So I'll know to avoid it...
@runnerxa3 жыл бұрын
@@AdventureRich The 8.0in rear diffs are in all the GX470 (03-09), 4th gen 4Runner (03-09), and early years of FJ Cruiser (07 to 09). All subsequent models have the 8.2in rear diff. You won't have issues with the 8.0in rear diff unless you wheel hard. Most folks end up swapping in an open diff 8.2 or an OEM e-locker version of 8.2 from newer models. Or they migrate to a different platform (Raptor, Land Cruiser, etc.).
