I gave it to my brother who is an amateur digital artist & he still uses it to this day! iPads easily last 6 years if you take care of them with a decent case & screen protector. FYI/correction Apple 1st Gen Pencil come with a Dongle in the Package now, without any extra cost. Also there is Apple Pencil Type C, which is bit cheaper but it doesn't have pressure sensitivity. that pencil is also works with iPad 10th gen. it has magnetic holing option like 2nd pencil but doesn't charge witlessly.

i bough ipad 9th gen this year and I have no regrets. Software and app support is freakin amazing. Even runs Da Vinci Resolve pretty well for normal editing.

Not an apple fanboy, but iPads are the best tablets. I personally use iPad Air 4, and my old iPad 6 base model with A10x chip I bought in 2018 still works and runs well with iPadOs 17.6. My son uses it for learning and simple games

Currently I’m using IOS 18 . I have this same issue with my iPad Air 5. While using apple notes app my iPad start heating up on right side of it and start battery draining in 1min or less the battery drain 1% . While using notability app the battery uses is 1% in 12 min of use. I have talked with apple they simply run a diagnostic online and said that there is no hardware or software issue . This is my 2 nd iPad the 1st one is having the same issues. In apple community also people have addressed this same issue since many year ago still people are facing the same issue. So I request to everyone talk to apple support and tell them the issue by giving such example because it’s a serious issue.
