I turned this into a kicking game and it is awesome. It forces kids to kick at the intended target, instead of just wildly across the room. One important change I made was I allowed the receiver to move. They could then get in a hoop where the ball was going. This rule made the game super crazy and made the receivers have to process quickly where they should go. Great Game. My go to source recently.

One suggestion I would make is to place bottle caps or checkers or something small so if the ball is caught then they take that item and not the hula hoop. This would allow for not having to set the game back up once the hoops are all picked up. Only the caps would need to be placed back in the hoops.

I used this game for AWANA at church with K-6th graders. It was a hit! We had 22 hula hoops and few baseball plates/lily pads that we put in the very back and those counted for 3 points each instead of 1. We had 4 teams with about 6-8 players per team, and we gave a 6 minute time limit so we could do 2 rounds in our short game time. Very fun game. Thanks for sharing!

I played this with my class and what we did for hoops on the far end of the gym was to have the next student in line use one of the hula hoops that they already received and used it as a half way marker. They stood inside and had to catch the ball, they would then pass it on to the player at the far end...so to get another hula hoop it took 2 perfect throws instead of 1.

Played this with my class today! they loved it! We didn't have enough hula hoops so we also put pinnies on the ground that they just had to stand beside so the game wasn't over so quickly

Great game! I just tried it with my grade 6 class. After the first game I had to move most of the hula hoops closer. When it got down to a couple of hula hoops, it got fairly exciting.
