Everybody is forgetting that Xtreme 3 has usb c port which means you can charge the speaker with a portable battery power bank. Now you can play your music all day without worry about the battery dying. For this reason I’m getting the Xtreme 3 but I’ll wait until it goes on sale.

Great review! The sound pallet may be updated in the future though via software. They did this with the Xtreme 2 as well. You could update it via the app and after it sounded much fully, more balanced.

@@ko7577 If you were judging it entirely through the video... well that's your mistake. The comparison can give you an IDEA of the sound profile in comparison, but nowhere close to real-world experience. It's weird that you would have an issue with customization and versatility. I personally love the ability to modify and customize certain aspects of anything I buy. I have the Extreme 3 and it sounded great, but they released a firmware update allowing you to adjust the Bass/Mid/High on the speaker itself. Couples with the EQ settings of my phone, I can change the sound of the speaker dramatically to match my personal taste. I don't see that as anything other than a win, but seeing as I was only 2 years old when you were wearing those headphones, I assume your age may have you behind the curve of these technological advancements.

@@Shibby7634 Fair enough, good points. I was having a bad day. And my guess is that everyone has a certain "sound" they're used to, yeah. Some people like me look more for outrageous volume with clarity coming in second. Other people prefer quiet music, and volume doesn't matter as much. It's an interesting debate. Lots of people love this sound system, so I'm in the minority here. And it's definitely not the worst I heard. lol After I watched this video I flat went out and bought a couple of speaker sets and they were way worse than this. I finally got Edifiers for my desktop, which I'm sure some people think they're crap too. To me it was the right balance of volume/clarity. I look mainly for volume, though, so yeah if you love really crystal clear audio, take my opinion with a grain of salt. I was also listening on my old computer speakers and the right speaker had gone out... so I probably didn't hear the full depth of the sound on these.

I love my Xtreme 2 I got 1 month ago I haven’t heard the Xtreme 3 but judging from what people have been telling me is that it’s not worth spending extra also you won’t be disappointed with the Xtreme 2 it has insanely crisp sound quality deep punchy bass and it gets loud asf without distortion it also is well balanced

Listening to another review, it sounded like the 3 had more bass, but that could be because of it having higher highs. I just bought a 2 a few days ago and liked it so much that I got another one last night. Basing it on that the 2 sounded better than the 3. Now I'm starting to question my research. The fact the 3 has a type-c USB was a plus over the 2's charger. Dunno. Still have time to take the 2s back and pick up a 3.

It's so fantastic that the Xtreme 3 Charges through type C, and appears to charge using the Power Delivery standard, meaning if you have a USB C power bank that supports PD charging it should fast charge the Xtreme 3

I bought a black one last week and it's quite hard to open but I think that's just cause it's new, it should get easier to open over time. You might have to lever it open with something small like me if you don't have long nails

Just get the newer one all old models of JBL have battery issues. I have the charge 3 the flip 4 both died and wouldn’t hold a charge. If you KZbin search battery replacement for all these models on Google you will see literally a freaking forum dedicated to battery issues. Third party battery makers are laughing to the bank.

I have both irl and the 2 definitely has more of a surround sound affect with it where the 3 has more bass and up front volume, kind of sounds like a bigger charge 4 but clearer. Edit: also the xtreme 2 has more weight to it, might be bigger magnets, or the xtreme 3 just has a much lighter design.

Just a fyi for people who have the xtreme 2 and wanna upgrade but can’t afford the xtreme 3 or the boom box for under 40$ you can modify the xtreme 2 by purchasing 2 4 inch 90degree pvc elbows they fit perfectly on the passive radiators on the xtreme2 you can also color match if you’d like and you can add a 2 foot section of 4 inch pvc to each side make sure you fill it with poly Fill or it sounds like crap, but it’s a cheap way to improve bass and sq doesn’t look the best but you can test with different lengths and elbows they all fit the passive radiators perfectly I encourage you to experiment with different lengths but make sure you use polyfil

Sooo,I bought a extreme 1 about 2 years ago, I just recently bought a extreme 2. I get it home and after a half hour / 45 mins, realized that it wouldn’t connect to the 1!😠 the whole reason why I bought the 2 was that I would connect them together! I don’t want to use auxiliary cords!!! So now I have to go buy another extreme 2 because it won’t connect to the 3!!!😠😠😠 jbl stop playing games with your loyal customers!!! Stop being greedy!!! If this is what jbl is going to keep doing , I’m moving on to another big name high quality brand who don’t f--- over their customers, so disappointed!! I still use my xtreme 1 and have no problems with it. I find it sounds fine but maybe just ok inside, however, outside sounds better. It really throws the sound outside. I also dumped a huge amount of water on it by mistake and it still works fine. I don't find speaker technology changes that much within just a few years to justify the upgrade cost.

Press and hold the bluetooth and minus buttons for 10 seconds and the deep bass will turn off and the volume will increase noticeably. Then just turn the bass up in the app.

Both speakers are on sale now: Extreme 2 is $150 and Extreme 3 is $250. I ordered the 2 from Amazon just because I couldn't tell the difference and the 2 also has the built-in microphone for long conference calls.

Nah, the 2 sounds way better than 1 and is water proof. Bass extension is better, battery life is better, it's waterproof unlike 1, the 1 is less well designed and the drivers will blow out more easily.

Honestly, the only thing that is extreme about the whole extreme line, is the price!!! $350-$199 for a speaker that gives you 40-50 watts, and you only getting that little bit if it's plugged in, lol i have several speakers that I've had four years, and I didn't pay more than $180 and they give you EVERYTHING they have unplugged, and I'm getting 70-90 watts, Aux, mic, portable charger, strap with no BS cap popper.

9:35 If you have an iPhone, you can open settings, go to music, and from there and can tap "EQ" and make a noticeable difference when selecting different EQ's. (Note: this only works with Apple Music). My favorite selections are: Bass Booster, Latin, and Hip Hop. They sound the best in my opinion.

The problem is that the speaker already has a built in EQ that is applied to your music, that's why speakers with apps that can change EQs are good because you're changing the EQ at the source. Changing the EQ settings on the phone is just adding 2 different EQs to your music

The Xtreme 3 is IP67 waterproof and dustproof compared to the Xtreme 2 which is IPX7, which is why I'm leaning towards the 3 due to working on a dusty worksite in all weather conditions.

Xtreme 1 is the BEST. I’ve owned Xtreme 1 and the Xtreme 3, it’s surprising how much warmer and pleasant Xtreme1 will fill a room. The X.3 is unpleasant to listen to in my opinion

I like that new desing. More agressive, cooler, with for people means something strong, special. The bass is richier, more clear and also in medium and highs, mainly the bass. Just that cost 350 is for me unactepted, because u can get for 300 original boombox. Usb c and party boost is only good diference ( yea, also weight ).

The extreme 3 bass sound kind of flat compare to the extreme 2. My choice would be the xtreme 2. Only difference is the updated components with the latest usb-c and compact charger along with a 10 watt bump up. And that slanted look on the extreme 3 design just look weird.

Miss my og xtreme was a real head turner when it first came out, my lipo battery died and then I ruined the charging cable and that was the end of that, battery only lasted 1 year and used it with the cable for the next 2

Let’s see if JBL can try this: remove the audio jack but enable wired connection with the USB Type C port because 95% of the phones that are released this year don’t have a headphone jack but do have a USB C cable. Old-school cats might not like this, but hey, we’re heading into a sleeker and minimalist future, so it should work.

They don't have to remove the audio jack to do that. And people don't just use their speakers with their phones. I connect mine to my TV via aux when I'm watching a video off a usb stick, also use an aux with the laptop to combat latency
