This is one of my favorite movies, and these are just a few good scenes from it.

The game of questions is one of the most brilliantly composed scenes in history. A celebration of logic, language and wittiness.

Seems as if, on some unconscious level, they're aware that progress is being made in the outside world, Newtonian physics, the invention of the sandwich, heated air turning a turbine, even a passable early 20th Century glider... but as characters in a play from 1603, they're stuck where they are in time, in a never-ending cycle where they always die at the end, barely acknowledged

For extra credit, find a copy of "Mean Time" to see these two actors as youngsters as intense as ever! They started their careers in a Mike Leigh movie. Amazing film.

There's some kind of philosophy involved in this, I can tell...but that doesn't make it any less confusing or depressing a movie. At least to me.
@TheJanny9 жыл бұрын
The film is based on the philosophy of Absurdism. If you find out more about it, it won't be as confusing or depressing as you think it is.

it's an existentialist play like Albert Camus' novels

Anyone still reading this, it's a send up, quasi-parody of Waiting For Gadot. In that case not so much Absurdism as it is Nihilism

they both are good together they need to do another movie or have their own show.loved lie to me ..although Oldman wasn't in it . But the show was brilliant not sure why they took it off the air

Did you really think Meantime was an amazing film? I found it so boring, I love british films and Gary Oldman is my fave actor. When I first heard one of his first films was with Tim Roth and Phil Daniels I couldnt wait to see it but I dont think I even made it to the end, I had to turn it off.
