I would have loved for you to somehow give Weedle however many hundreds of extra levels it needed to beat the game and knock out Mewtwo. The napkin math on the long, long odds of beating the game with Weedle normally was quite a treat. Good video Brother!

It was quite fun to just turn off the timer and check things but extra levels would just lengthen the grind 2 to 3 fold and then I would have to admit maybe it’s not worth it anymore lol.

In theory you could set Weedle's level as high as 255, max out its DVs and stat experience, and turn off experience to prevent it from leveling down to 100 after gaining EXP. This would give it in-battle stats of 708 HP, 475 ATK, 446 DEF, 389 SPC, and 561 SPD. This makes Giovanni very doable with Struggle, which is a possible OHKO even on Rhydon. Agatha's Gengars are 3HKOs with Poison Sting, while Haunter, Arbok, and Golbat are 2HKOs. Lance might be doable even at level 100 due to his AI, while Giovanni and Agatha are probably beatable around level 150, but the Champion could still be a problem since Charizard's Fire Blast can still take out 20-25% of your HP, and Weedle can't OHKO Charizard even with Struggle until level 168, with the guarantee coming only at level 183. Level 183 gives a guaranteed OHKO on Alakazam with Poison Sting, and level 183 Poison Sting is also a likely OHKO on Charizard if Rhydon badge boosts you six times while you attempt a 14HKO on it.

I think Jrose made it through Giovanni in his video but I tried like a thousand times and just the idea that you could get past the first two Pokemon and just have them not do any damage or debuff any of your stats is wild to me. That's near TAS levels of luck that he got in his run. Not only that but he perfectly got to struggle strats right on the Nidos and they only went for 35/40 base power normal moves to allow him to get to the end lol.

Just fyi 39 badge boosts is a 98.84 x multiplier so it would essentially max out your stats and poison sting would do some real damage.

It's funny how strong bug as a type was in gen 1, being strong against poison (the most abundabt type) and psychic (the most broken type in gen 1) alongside grass (being quad effective nearly always because nearly all grass types are also poison types) and it just was a trash type because the pokémon were trash or didn't learn any bug moves. It losing a SE matchup against poison and out of 3 new types, 2 resisting it really just destroyed the type's availability later on.

The amount of patience needed to even get to Giovanni is absurd, you're a Real One for attempting this! The Agatha fight for Weedle has always interested me as someone with a statistics background. I'm pretty sure someone somewhere has already done a deep dive, but I do have an idea on how to approach it with something called a Markov Chain. Agatha switching makes that really tricky though.

Yea the switching and the variables make it really hard to even get a grasp on the increasing chance of failure after you take even 1 damaging move so a modest approach with the disclaimer that it’s much worse is the best approach for this.

If there's any net positive about this run, it's this. There is now the visualization of you using a KO'd Surf HM slave like a boogie board on your brisk swims to Cinnabar. Or if it's a Snorlax, a raft. Also the sheer math of calculating winning the Agatha Lottery.

I love it lol. Also the math is very broad. Like if you took a Night Shade, your already incredibly low odds go down significantly then you need to calculate in the hp loss with other stuff so it was conservative but it gives a basic idea I think.

I am surprised you didn't mention Jake, aka the Weedle guy and his Bongzilla saga with Weedle from gen 1 to gen 5. Of course it wasn't following the conventional rules, it was more a matter of masochism and see how long it takes to finish the game with Weedle, so X items were included (which became a big problem in gen 5 considering you only get to them on the 7th gym). But yeah, not surprised this was the outcome when you are stuck just with poison sting and string shot. I think it took them up to gen 5 to start adding more moves to first stage bug pokémon.

I'd be interested to see how Weedle would fare in a run where the odds are stacked in its favor (stuff like crit on demand, always max damage rolls against opponents, always take min damage rolls from opponents, etc.), just to see if it's possible. On a similar note, I wonder if Weedle could beat the game if it had Harden (for badge boosts) and Twineedle (for coverage), or if its stats are just too low to carry it even with those extra moves. At that point though it'd basically just be Beedrill with worse stats. 😝

Yea i think Jrose made it past Giovanni. I won't speak on the legitimacy or anything like that but making it past Rhyhorn/Dugtrio with full health, zero debuffs on defense/attack/accuracy, perfectly getting to struggle strats and having both Nidos only go for Scratch/Tackle just speaks to the kind of luck you'd need.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987Yeah the luck required is insane given the number of things that would have to go just right and he ended up giving up and making very similar points about Agatha anyway, but if anyone was going to throw himself at the same wall over and over again it’s probably jrose considering the way he plays elite 4 runs. His victreebel run was hard to watch, not great routing or play.

I haven't watched that one yet! I probably will but tbh I've been burnt out on long form Pokemon content for nearly 2 years at this point. When Jrose did the whole December thing and Scott followed suit and all his lackies tried the same, it was just an overload. I'm not sure about the psychology about it but it mainly boils down to too much content for me to consume.

I guess you mean the Agatha Fight? He actually says it was almost impossible and that it took over a week to beat. He talks about how he had to PP-Up his Poision Stings to the max, what Problems he faced and a lot of other things. He livestreams his other challanges often, but I don't know if he streamed this one. Of Course he could have faked the Video, I can't prove it's legit.

@@stallone5017 All I can do is present the odds and probability. It's up to you to decide if someone could actually do it. Think about it like someone getting 3 full odd shinies in a row. It's not something you do in a week and it's likely something that someone could spend their life on and never have it happen but let me say one final thing. The point to where the probability reaches 99% where it's likely to happen is around 138.15 million, and that's a very conservative figure. Let's assume someone plays out every fight to see if they get the luck and on average each reset is around 20 seconds. If you never slept, ate, or took a break and reset continuously for a whole day, that's 4,320 resets in a day, which no one would realistically do but I'm comfortable pretending that this person is a robot that doesn't need to do those things. In this situation, take a guess how long it would take to reach that probability without eating/sleeping/etc? The answer is 31,979 days and some change. That's 87.6 years assuming you never sleep, eat, have a job, or do anything other than do roughly 20 second resets on a Weedle run from like the age of 10 all the way to when you are about to turn 98 years old. I'm sorry but someone saying they spent a week sounds like something only gullible people who have no clue about odds, statistics, or probability would believe.

I’ve seen it. I’ll let people make their own decisions on that. He beat it by not having a perfect fight where he was able to get to struggle strats within the fight and didn’t take a debuff or single point of damage for a while. Lottery levels of luck just. He should have beaten Agatha too, I’m sure a lot of people would believe that as well.

Weedle's back sprite was looking like it asks you every single time that you sent it to battle, when is it going to end?!😂😂😂 Basically,form the get go,the game likes to remind you that Pokémon is so bad ,that it's Brock split is equivalent to a good Pokémon's crystal run.😂😂 Trying to optimise that part alone is a formula for madness, but you asked and did play with madness, and you did it in the best possible way. I also really liked the explanation that you did why this challenge was doomed to fail to begin with. Frankly speaking, I don't think that even at level 255 Weedle could do it without x items. But maybe it (in a legit way) could do it in crystal, but that's too much madness for one year.🫡

I think some curious people did the math for me. I think level 183ish is where you'd need to be to do it but not too much higher if it fails. It's crazy and I'll leave that up to someone else lol. I do think it's funny how Weedle's Brock split is a full F tier run on it's own and that just scratches the surface of how bad it is. I had the itch to explain the Agatha odds and probability for a long time now and I figured I'd wrap it up in a video.

Level 168 is not that bad , I thought that only at level 200 it was possible. But that's too much madness for one run,right?🫡 That Brock split was something else. I think that a 0dvs Beedril would have finished the game twice, compared to Weedle's Brock split.
