I've always been shy when it came to auditioning for plays (So every year my teacher would put me in the ensemble) but this year I just said Enough is Enough and I sang my heart out and I started dancing around while I sang (I have no idea why I was so hyper) and I got the Cat. If your watching this video and your going to audition for a play don't be nerves! Just try your best and believe in yourself. Us musical theatre nerds believe in you! ( Also, don't drink or eat dairy products before an audition it makes you sound nasally and it makes you sing slower and more quiet)

man, this is a memory trip. I did this show 6 years ago, and it was my first real show i ever did. I was 9. I met one of my closest friends ever during that show, and grew a lot as a person from it. I may have just been Bird Girl 3, but the impact this silly little musical had on my child brain was great.

My school just announced that they are putting on this (we're a middle school). They always put the 6th graders in the ensemble, the 7th graders are always children leads (mostly no boy 7th graders join so they always give boys to girls), and 8th graders are always the adults (sometimes there are exceptions, tho). I'm a 7th grade girl and I kind of want to get The Boy/ Jojo but I just want a good rule.

Our director always picks favorites. The kid who is Cat wants to be Jojo but our Jojo is a girl because that makes sense with the songs. And our Sour Kangaroo is only at rehearsals everyday now because we are doing the show in three weeks! The Who's also have to make their own costumes. It really doesn't matter if you have experience or not. It just matters if he likes you or if your siblings were in the musicals before you.

Yep, I starred as him in the first musical I ever did, and to this day, it still is the best production I've ever done, especially how it motivated me to continue pursuing an interest in acting for a hobby. But yeah, he pretty much steals every scene he's in, being the puppet master of the story essentially. I'll always remember that moment when we did our final bows, coming on last yet getting the biggest applause of the whole cast. As long as you can give it your all, be expressive and clever with your humour (maybe even through in some improvisation to add an unpredictability to the humour like I did) and try your best to be the focus of attention in all your scenes, you've pretty much nailed the character. Love this musical, and I'll remember it for years to come.

Honestly I just figured out my role as ensemble and 1 day with practice im so happy I got it honestly I like being ensemble so much more then being the cat in the hat or JoJo or mayzie or Gertrude, so if your ensemble don’t regret it and be sad it is so much fun and enjoy it.

I’m doing seussical jr for my school’s fine arts camp this summer. Today was the second day of the camp this year. We did a few auditions but the teachers haven’t announced the roles yet.
