I love how he sees beauty as the most important thing in gymnastics. And that's what it is! Gymnastics is beauty. Love this guy, what a legend.

This guy is a perfectionist. He did a quad double back in the gym (2 vertical rotations with 4 spins in one tumble). He just never brought it to competition because he thought the landing was not good enough. So he stuck with his triple double back and let the younger Kenzo Shirai introduce a quad back (1 vertical rotation with 4 spins) which the world thought was impressive. Kohei Uchimura is a legend in this sport. He raised the difficulty bar so high that even the Russians had to grow their team significantly to make up for the new versatility requirements.

It's not about me being perfect or bringing him down. I just found it to be a good example of 'hard work beats talent.' It's a nice change from interviews/documentary claiming someone was such a kid prodigy blabla. He went from struggling with a simple move to being the best, and that's beautiful, that's all I wanted to underline.
