2012 Aerobic Worlds SOFIA - Individual Women and Trio Finals - We are Gymnastics!

Following the victory of countryman Ivan Pajero in the Individual Men's competition, Spain's Sara Moreno matched his feat with her second World gold in the Individual Women's category, her extra difficulty carrying her over France's Aurélie Joly. In the country of her birth, Austria's Lubov Gazov realized a childhood dream by winning the bronze medal, her first time gracing the podium at a World Championships.

It was an emotional finish to the Trio final as Kim Guontaeck, Lee Kyung Ho and Ryu Jusun dissolved into tears, their emotions flooding the Kiss and Cry as they saw their names at the top of the Swiss Timing boards. The Koreans had somewhat upset favorite China (Tao Le, Che Lei and Han Mingzhe) to take gold, leaving Romania (Mircea Zamfir, Mircea Brinzea and Tudorel Valentin Mavrodineanu) in bronze medal position. With the exception of Vietnam, all trios in this final were composed solely of men. Some wonder if this is an occasional, not to mention worrysome, lack of female candidtaes in this category. Others surmise that the Code should make a clearer distinction between the performances of all-men trios, all-women trios, and mixed. The debate is open.
