She should definetely be able to repeat the routine! A NEW ribbon that breaks after only 20 seconds of ONLY doing spirals, snakes and large circles, and nothing to put any stress on the swivel is an already compromised ribbon!

@@rimmel65 Yeah, you're right. Coz she's an Averina she can't repeat the routine. She should be not only Averina but also an American Averina only in this case she can do that like American sprinters at Summer Olympic Games in Brazil at a relay just coz they couldn't pass the baton to each other.

As a judge, I can tell you that at least there is no deduction for the use of replacement apparatus, only the interruptions/subsequent faults in the exercise but it is apparently her responsibility to check the replacement apparatus before going on the floor (crazy I know). She did sooo well to recover after so many unfortunate apparatus faults though omg

Chipi Niki ribbons don’t break from a throw, gymnasts know how hard they have to throw it so they can get a good height. Specially a gymnast like Arina. It’s ridiculous they put a broken ribbon as replacement.

sadly it is possible 😔 my best friend who is a gymnast almost got all gold in her competition, but during her ribbon performance it actually broke and they didn't have spare ribbons on the side so her dad had to throw an extra from the audience. So she ended up placing third in that apparatus instead of first

OMG That's the first struggle exercise that i see the russian doing at world championship ever. The replacement ribbon shouldn't have broke in less 20 seconds, this is not fair with Arina or any other gymnastic. The organization should have given at least one more chance to her.

All are talking about the broken ribbon, but can you feel how challenging and artistic was this performance, this shows how much passion Arina has, it's really beautiful seeing this because it's unnecesarily hard, but she does it for love to art, and every movement has soul in it. We have to start seeing this sport as art and not only how many points did she get, because we are missing out in art in movement, that is wonderful.

The problem is: if we start to see this sport as art it will be removed from the Olympics. That is the reason the gymnasts want to call it a sport. The discussion was years before when the FIG started to cut the elements down to only some elements and the gymnast had to do more dance moves. Was good a while until no one tried some signature moves anymore and the audience didn´t showed up anymore. There is a reason the FIG decided to do an unlimited element rule in the new code of points with going away from art and put it more into the sport section again. But I do understand your consideration.

Wow even if see had to replace her ribbon twice, she still did amazing. During the routine, she still tried to keep her confidence and tried to make the most out of it. If my NEW replacement ribbon broke on just a simple toss, i would have just stopped and started crying.

I really admire her finishing the rest of the routine stably! It proved that she is one of the best athletes in this sport. Her confidence and high quality movements worth anything. Nevertheless she controlled herself until the end. What a mindset has this girl, just to stand there and perform with such confidence after this horrible faults and apparatus defect. And yes the organizers prepare the apparatuses but all of them are checked and approved by FIG.If they did not count the penalty for the second apparatus it is even more shady because she lost the expensive risk and all the time for the running.

that at a world championship the ribbon reserve breaks at the first movement is unjustifiable ... but that ribbon have put?! One ribbon of the decathlon ?! If she would had performed perfectly after the knot there would still be a chance to qualify for the ribbon final. Also the the best ribbon score of yesterday's competition was under her seasons best, I think. So a broken replacement apparatus is quite a disaster

And when the ribbon broke, the whole element didnt count because she couldnt perform it. Очень надеюсь, что технический комитет задумается, наконец...Мы еще в 20м веке вязали веревки или меняли изначалтный карабин на рыболовный(он был качественнее в то время), а с нынешними качественными лентами вообще карабины противопоказаны! Пора ввести в норму ленту с "веревкой", чтобы и к организаторам не было претензий! Лента же не сразу сломанной оказалась-но все же ее хватило не на долго-и надо делать выводы.

And in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games she had to switch her ribbon in the middle of her routine and finished in fourth place while her sister Dina won the silver medal. The twins officially retired from rhythmic gymnastics on February 23, 2024. Note: At 0:32, there's a knot in the ribbon. If you pause at minute 2:21, you can see the ribbon's stick in the air marked with the red circle.

The apparatuses are checked by FIG and they are from specific brands so the people who say that the ribbon was “cheap” or something like that are obviously not right. I have read that it’s quite common for new ribbons to break 🤔
