The double scorpion looks pretty, especially when the gymnast keeps her balance rather than falling out of the turn.

I would love to see a video on the best executed gymnastics routines

I thought the reason many gymnasts “over-rotate” the double wolf turn on floor was to make sure they have rotate clearly over 720° to *avoid* a 0.1 deduction for precision. I think it is unnecessarily strict to deduct for not finishing *exactly* where you start; gymnasts would rather “over-rotate” than have a skill downgraded. It’s not officially in the Code yet, but I love the Triple L Turn. Shilese Jones’s one on Day 2 of the 2023 U.S. National Championships was beautiful, and I hope she can stamp her name in the Code with the skill soon. The Semenova is also one of my favourite turns on floor. We don’t see it often, and it is hard to execute well, but it looks sublime when done so. Brooklyn Moors executed a well-controlled Semenova at the 2018 American Cup.

i would say the reason for that is to avoid being downgraded. better to get 0.1 off for precision than 0.2 off the downgraded skill (D to B) AND 0.1 for precision

Ohashi’s Memmel is stunning!

At what point does the turn start getting performed? For example, with the Memmel, does the turn start when the gymnast lifts up her leg, or only when she hits the split position? In Chellsie's performances in the video, she seems to have completed 1.5 turns to my eye

The same question applies even more to the Berar
@mrparts10 күн бұрын
It should be the entire rotation with the shape held, so people must over rotate to ensure completion. Enforcement is questionable
@jacksonhytes406610 күн бұрын
@@poshbo she basically held the position for only one rotation and did the second one with her leg inches above the floor 😂😂

I hate wolf turns, especially on floor. They're just plain ugly
@poshbo10 күн бұрын
They're also significantly easier than equivalent turns in L, Y, attitude or scorpion and should be downgraded

A turn always need to be performed with tiptoed feet??
@sportsgod-c2d11 күн бұрын
Yes. Each time a gymnast’s feet or toes are not pointed, they receive a 0.1 deduction. Anyway, I think having pointed feet makes turns look more polished.
@objetivista68611 күн бұрын
@sportsgod-c2d thanks. I also think is more difficult to spin without pointing.

@@objetivista686I’ve studied dance for about 15 years. It takes much more force to spin on a flat foot, or you give the illusion via many small hops.

@saraquill that's what i thought. Thanks!

Urázova' s wolf and Visser' s Memmel + illusion are the reason why WAG still deserves to be called WAG instead of Sportive Gymnastics (wich is how it' s called in russian language while Rhythmic Gymnastics = Artistic Gymnastics). _“Possibly due to their extensive ballet training"_ ??? Yes, possibly, maybe, probably, perhaps😅😝...
