i was listening to this song at midnight, had a little imagination that comes up, im thinking the rythm is the parents, while the melody is their children, and when the music goes to the sad part, the parents die, and soon after the rythm and the melody join together, the children becomes the parents, and it goes around again and again. haha just a small midnight thought. thanks for uploading!

the main theme of this composition kind of makes me think of enjoying the simpler things in life; a small smile, watching the clouds go by, or just reading a good book. but more somber part makes me want to recline and think to myself. such a good piece.

I've been searching for this melody for two years. It has been haunting me when I overheard someone playing it in a music shop. It felt so warm back then but I did not stop by to ask what the song was. I went back home and searched in online and could not find it until I watched amateur works from a director and found that song again and scanned through the credits and found the magical words: Satie - Gymnopedie No. 1. Today is the day!

I think that "Gymnopedie no.1" from Erik Satie is the only one real composition that can help you by study. Actually I'm not studying, I'm just just reading books on my own and I hate silence. I was already aware for a lot of time of this composition and the constant press of replay at the end of the song distracted me. Thanks to this video, now I can really immerse myself in a no time space. It's already 18.00 and playing this for the third time. Dostoevskij is calling me again, cheers.

After a day of construction I like to put this song on, roll a joint, sit back with birds chirping through the silence while the sun sets as it cascades through the forest and just be one with the world. Taking in deep breaths of fresh air and placing my bare feet on the ground. That's more real than our everyday struggles. IT'S LIFE! In it's purest form. Thank the most high for allowing me to experience this beauty.

The funny thing is that the composer (Erik Satie) lived a life that was completely different than the relaxing feel of this masterpiece. He was like let’s rock n roll, drink til I can’t no more.. if cocaine was invented back then he’d probably be a Hardcore junkie. He eventually died because of liver cirrhosis, which is very common for alcoholics. He was a genius musician and he actually invented the ambient music genre. He was into some weird occult stuff and of course people stayed away from him. He didn’t even let his friends enter his apartment, which was dirty and full of trash, at least they found it that way after he died. A weird and mysterious dude, who left the world without knowing how the people of the future love his music.

I can't believe I've wasted my entire life listening to mainstream music like Drake and others. Since recent events have led me to reevaluate my entire life I started searching for deeper meaning in the world. There has to be more than spending all my free time glued to my phone like some addict. I'm glad to have found this music specifically this song. It puts me at ease and helps me with reading, meditation and even exercise. I'm about halfway through this dark episode in my life but I vow to make it out a much stronger human. I love you Azalia and Amiyah soon this will all be over.

Eric Satie, compositeur décrié durant de longues, trop longues années.... Ces "chèr(e)s élites de la "musique" devraient s'en inspirer malgré tout... La rythmique pourtant simple porte tout en elle. Of all the versions of Gymnopédie No. 1 on KZbin this one is by far the best. I'm not sure why, but when I listen to other versions they pale in comparison. I think whoever played this really understood the timing intended by Satie.

I first heard this song on one of my son’s toys that played lullabies. I instantly fell in love with it. Reminds me of my husband and I and how young we were when we first started , how we fell in love, and now after so many years how God blessed us with our beautiful babies. Our son was our first born and this song definitely brought tears to my eyes just being so grateful to finally be a mother .

I read that Satie was very eccentric and he wanted to create beautiful background music. It’s meant for us to be able to converse with others or read or create, with this beautiful sound accompanying us but not intruding. He once got angry because someone noticed how beautiful it was.

Eric Satie, when composing his timeless, wonderfully flowing compositions, saw something no one had seen before him. He saw resolution, he saw peace, and he saw placidity all rolled into one. Simply brilliant, amazing music that will never go away. It will always be here, even after the writer of every single comment under this video passes away. Even as we go, the music will be there, softly playing and gently lulling us away...

This song brings out so many feelings. Sadness, reminds me that people age and die eventually and most are forgotten. Nostalgia remember my innocent days having fun and not worrying about problems. Open mindedness thinking about absolutely anything especially how circumstances came to be. And for some reason a sense of nothingness/missing especially because I feel excluded, disregarded, and minimal

When I hear this music, I have a very clear image in my head. I see the stars, shining brighter than I'd ever see on Earth. The world around me, it's so perfect. I peer out the window of this high-up building to see this beautiful sprawling utopia. Its center so far away, but so grand in scale, a fantastic silver spire rocketing into the clouds... The whole world is golden, from the buildings to the clouds, and I hear this music so loudly that I get lost in it again and find myself back here. But the image, the golden city, the stars that shine through the day, the massive silver spire, It will never be taken away from me. I hope to see it some day. Probably not, but a man can hope.

Spring break has ended...so before I go home today I had to spend..more time with them. Just walked my little brother and sister to school. We walked gracefully and just talked about how everything was and forth... I never wanted to cry so bad in my life... As we reached the school I told them how proud of them I was... To not worry and complain about simple yet complex things...everything is going to be fine. Shortly after, I gave both of them hugs like if I was on a deathbed... Never felt that way in my life. They both ran gracefully to their friends and we go separate ways. I have changed so much. Though I'm still crying now. Life is so profound and it's very important... to express yourself to family while they are alive, not dead. About to leave to San Diego now and remember how I gave them love before I left. After this I shall return to the present.

This song gives me a feeling of nostalgia but not a true feeling of it. It reminds me on how the old times of me just relaxing at home on a summer evening watching KZbin videos, mainly Venturiantale. A time a can really never bring back because of how things are now. Due to quarantine, I know school will be extended into the summer. And it would've been before, I feel like summer and all of the free time I used to have is slowly being taken away in some sort of way. Summer is that time to party and hang out. Not to sit in a classroom with the heater on most of the time. This song reminds me of how it used to be. Simple. A simple melody drifting into the air as I flip through these memories like a dusty memory book. I want those days to come back. I'm sorry if this didn't make any sense, I am just speaking my mind.

Just passing through, tipping my hat to some wonderful memories that had this playing in the background.

It's been a long time since you posted your comment but I still wanted to react to it. The feeling may be best described as Melancholic nostalgia in English; like looking back at lost happiness which makes you feel warm yet sad at the same time. For me it's also a feeling of being alone while thinking about someone but not being lonely. Saudade is the Portugese word for it which comes even closer but has no real translation to English. I hope that helps a bit?

I listened to this music during my college studies a couple of years ago and now I'm back flipping pages to the books and writing these damn APA Style papers again. The music is so relaxing and at times I get so into listening to the music I forget about studying and then I have to go back to where I stopped in my studying which would sometimes be at the beginning. The piano sound just puts me in a trance.

This song has always been one of my favourites. And I get you don’t bother listening in on my weird thoughts and feelings about this song, but the song is unbeatable, it makes you wanna feel like you’re in a fairy tales dark forest, living in a cabin, reading stories to your children in medieval times and telling them about the great wonders of the world, does that feeling come up in anyone else?

So happy to find The Velvet Gentleman on KZbin -- thanks! And grateful to Blood Sweat & Tears for the intro to Erik Satie in 1968. Their second album opens and closes with "Variations on a Theme by Erik Satie". I had the vinyl of Velvet Gentleman back in the day -- one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. So familiar.

I know I'm not the person who you asked, but having been in the same situation as you I think it's fitting to say you really shouldn't care what others think about your tastes in music. That being said, respect everybody else's tastes as no one genre of music is better than another, so don't flaunt your interest in classical as some subtle form of saying, "Ha, I'm smarter than you." And as much as it doesn't make you smarter, neither does it make you weird. Don't let your tastes in music define how you think about yourself.

I used to have a kiddie piano when I was little that had built-in songs on it .. this was one of them. it was a much shortened version of the song but a great song nevertheless . it wasnt until years later that I actually found out the correct name of the song. I played the video game Remember Me on Xbox 360 where a robot was playing this song on piano. I then googled it and found the name! love this song.. this is coming from a guy who listens to ALL genres of music

Lemon Chicken i’d say they’re idiots if they want to live a simple life, but i understand why. life isn’t always simple; sometimes things happen that you don’t want yet you’ll have to, if you understand me. i get that, people want to control their lives. but doing something a bit backwards in this day and age seems a bit too much.

This song makes me remember all the good times in the beginning and how much I've cherished it. Then it brings you down back to reality where changes have made me a different person, learning from all the struggles that got me here. Once the song loops back to the beginning, it gives me hope that there's something worth living; smiling as I move forward to a brighter future. However, challenges come as I go...
