Gympie Mary River Flooding 08.01.2022

Amazing how quickly the Mary River rose to 12 metres in a span of about 24 hours. It's now expected to peak at around 14m Saturday night. A big dumping of rain, up to 500mm in the catchment area after a fairly wet December has caused some moderate flooding in Gympie with downstream areas such as Maryborough bracing for a major flood event in the coming days.

Just got sent pics of Mary hole, was looking for pix of the gymp.. Used to jig school and swim there, at the weir, was a swing, and we'd go up the "love" tunnel to the civic centre and walk back to school in time for the bus. Town clock was good for keeping time. Least you got a woolies there, was nothing there when I lived at calico ck and lagoon pkt

These world weather patterns have gone mad.We have had so much rain in JHB over December and the start of Jan.Really slowed the dirt riding up.At least you won't have to water your new garden for a while.Cheers.

Up until 2005 drinking and driving in the State of Montana was permitted, as long as you weren't over the legal limit, a lot of Saloons had "to-go cups" for their patrons lol, Even with all that flooding, the weather looks so nice and warm, we could use some of it here right now! loving the drive through town! looks like a cool place! hope the waters succeed soon though!

@@MVDBR not even close. I think we were too close to the source of the river so not much of the catchment area. It's where Scrub Creek joins the Mary, camped in a rainforest between those two waters. I see some properties around Kenilworth got flooded though 😮😬 must have been more luck than anything. I guess it was a long way from your place being just over the 1 in 100 area?
