4:10 if we're thinking of they same part they only work on press fit headsets. they work but sitting underneath the headset cup. I used to run that when I had a gyro
@Brant_Moore4 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking too. Glad I mentioned that part in there instead of accidentally giving anyone false hope.
@MadMetalShop Жыл бұрын
@Brant_Moore yeah man odessey had them on every manufactures bikes in the late 90s early 2000s. If you have press in cups and 1 1/8 front tube you should be good to go. I still run my mid school setup and probably always will lol. Run mine with a tektro 77 dual cable leaver. Thing looks like a middle school shop project 🤣

I gotta try clear pads because the new Tektro pads are'nt biting. I sanded the rim brake surface and cleaned it with acetone but they just don't bite.

Hey Brant I really enjoued your videos and love the brake setup but cannot find a gyro or gyro plate with set screws. If you or anyone could help me it would be a big help. I broke my first rotor cable in 1985 and I still ride daily.

I think Shadow has the only gyro available right now that has set screws in it. Awesome to hear you're still riding!!!!

Do u know why there is so much slack in my odyssey m2 lever? I have to max out all adjusters completely just to have the brake not be loose, using the stock upper cable that came with the m2 lever. There’s just so much slack
@Brant_Moore2 жыл бұрын
That has more to do with the distance between your gyro tabs and your gyro plate. Sometimes you cant really do anything about it but sometimes you can add spacers under tour stem to take up that slack.
@takeiteasy63462 жыл бұрын
@@Brant_Moore thanks for the quick reply man. I will see if I can fit more spacers but I seem to be basically maxed out.
@takeiteasy63462 жыл бұрын
@@Brant_Moore could I cut the ends opposite of the lever of the m2 cable and use knarps the cut some slack?
@Brant_Moore2 жыл бұрын
If you get some knarps that will allow your gyro to still work that’s possible. This is why I started making my own custom cables and using gyros that have the knarp set screws built in. That’s an option for you too if you want to get a new gyro that has the screws in it

Do you know if a 1 1/8 odyssey gyro fits a fit trl bike 2020 by fitbike

It should. 1 1/8 is the standard fork steer tube size of modern bmx bikes

@Brant_Moore I'm also thinking of getting pegs, there is two pegs 10mm and 14mm as the only options but my bike has 17mm bolt on the front and 19mm bolt on the back, not sure what to do?
@Brant_Moore4 жыл бұрын
10mm is for a 3/8 axle, 14mm is the larger axle size. 17mm and 19mm are the axle nut sizes on a 14mm axle. From the sound of it, you’ll want two 14mm pegs

My problem is the spacers..if i use to many my breaks work great but my stem won't screw in if I use not enough my breaks barely work

@@Brant_Mooremy mid School is 22 years old and still has the same gyro cables I upgraded to in the early 2000s. I think it was probably a solution to a problem that didn't exist. I've never torn off a cable end. Like stright pulled it off. I think the set screws pose more of a issue with eating into the cable and breaking strands. You're creating a pinch point that will weaken imo faster than a standard cable end.
@Brant_Moore Жыл бұрын
@MadMetalShop That might be, but having a custom length to fit exactly what I need using the least amount of adjustment possible leads to more dialed brakes. My upper cables don’t break any more often than stock cables did for me.
@johncarlson22588 ай бұрын
The rooster in the background simply reminds me that I'm getting kinda hungry! How long did it take you to come up with your current setup, and is it so dialed in for "you" that if you changed to a 24' or a 26" you would still run the exact setup? Damn, you must be able to stop on a dime in the pouring rain. Nice video. Compelling and rich, and dripping with so much info that it leaves me hungering for more info that it made me forget how hungry that rooster in the background is making me!🐓🤤🚴♀🤙
@Brant_Moore8 ай бұрын
Haha the rooster. It kinda happened over a period of time of me just being sick of breaking cables and then having to be done riding for the day. I would probably have this exact setup no matter what setup it’s on as long as it’s for park/street riding even if for only the longevity of cables. My trails bike is a straight cable because I never need a gyro at the trails.
@MegaBillWood3 жыл бұрын
Why did you decide on double?
@Brant_Moore3 жыл бұрын
You have more fine control over the adjustment with double. I also can’t use my custom cable mods with single to double cable

Hey bud, I have a BSD brakeless frame and was wondering if I have everything I need to fit a rear brake and gyro. Is an Odyssey Springfield brake kit, odyssey gyro and BSD brake mount kit all I need? And for tools I’m guessing a 13mm wrench and 5mm Allen key?
@civanlfc43584 жыл бұрын
Oh and 2 Velcro cable ties to secure the cable to frame and handlebars to stop any jangling/movement when riding
@Brant_Moore4 жыл бұрын
If you have a gyro and a Springfield Kit, you’ll be missing gyro cables. The Springfield kit comes with a single straight cable whereas you need a specific upper and a specific lower for a gyro

If you're confident in your abilities you can drill and tap your frame for them. I'd do it in a heartbeat I've been a fabricator for the last 20 years after I last stopped riding lol. I'm just finding alot of this new stuff out too lol. Integrated headsets WHAAAAAT. We never had that crap back in the late 90s 🤣 just good old pig headsets and odessey lower cable cups.
