Jerichos people were a very depraved people sexually they were afraid of Israel and when Israel arrived they gave Jericho an ultimatum like they would give each Canaanite city give up your ways or die. Jericho didn’t and to make a long story short when they put their trust in their walls, after a week god caused them to spontaneously collapse save for a small section filled with the only family to accept the offer. This is a tldr version and I left out a lot of detail basically Jericho had arrogance and a superiority complex
