H. Affairs draft White Paper on Citizenship and Immigration faces criticism: Jason Brickhill

The Department of Home Affairs' draft White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection unconstitutionally proposes to restrict the socio-economic rights of migrants and could encourage rather than discourage xenophobia, according to scathing submissions on the White Paper from human rights and immigration organisations. This comes after Minister Motsoaledi introduced the policy framework in November 2023, which proposes a radical overhaul of South Africa's citizenship, immigration and refugee laws.
