I think this album has a strange meaning behind it, it's too much like your common idol album in some lirycs but it turns out to be strange in the music aspects, like a parody of the genere of a deconstruction of it.

I’m pretty late to this comment but this album was Jun Togawa’s personal take on current idol music around that time, not a mockery or parody. Jun is a bit of an odd person and had a very rough childhood so her music expressing herself feels very strange and dark.

Your upload list is amazing, Eric! I can't believe you don't even live in Japan and you are so young! Many of the artists are the ones I went crazy for in my late teen and early twenties, and they were "underground" (don't know how to put it, opposite of "the main stream"). Thank you very much for uploading them and great meeting you!
@ericrhodesii90255 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I could help you! Thanks for the lovely comment :)
Thank you for uploading this. I fell under the spell of Jun just a year or so ago, and even though I don't speak Japanese and have to find rough translations for the lyrics, and do research to understand the context within Japanese society during that period of time, there is an intangible quality to the music that transcends both language and cultural borders. I was a senior in high school in 1985 in California and there would have been no way for me to know about this LP at the time, even though I was only listening to punk/post punk/independent music and constantly tuned into college radio. But this LP in particular is rooted in forms from that time that I am familiar with and have a frame of reference for, and the underlying spirit of subversiveness comes through without needing to understand the lyrics. I understand that Jun has had a difficult life, but I am thankful for the courage to express an avant garde perspective and the meaningful art she has created and I wish her nothing but peace and love.

If you want a legit copy of this album, the remastered re-issue CD from GT Music (MHCL 715) is still in print in Japan, available as an import elsewhere. Also Japanese-regionalized Apple Music. Otherwise I'd suggest listening on KZbin. At least someday those views might buy a cup of coffee for the artist, who is very much alive.
