In 1959, American scholar W.E.B. Du Bois asked Chairman Mao why he wasn't afraid of war. Mao responded that New China was built through numerous wars, making peace precious. While China doesn't seek war, it will fight back if its rights are threatened. Mao emphasized that China doesn't provoke but isn't afraid of conflict, ready to fight until victory.
