The lyrics of this song are in English, but they sound like Japanese with a completely different meaning. It is a comedy song by mishearing. It's great music itself, but it's even more interesting if you understand Japanese. 🤣

It seems that some people think that if you don't understand Japanese, you won't be able to enjoy this song, but just watching this video is fun enough. In Japan, there is the word "空耳 / Sora-Mimi / Mishearing", which means a phenomenon that sounds like another word that is not spoken, or a phenomenon that makes you feel like you heard it even though there is no sound. When it changes to a word with a completely different meaning, or when English sounds like Japanese and Japanese sounds like English like this MV, it is called "空耳 / Sora-Mimi". There are even programs in Japan that have only the theme of "空耳 / Sora-Mimi". The "留学生 / Ryugakusei / international student" of this collaboration expresses that to the fullest. I think you're aware that he's using strange English-like words, as you've been listening and listening to Mr. Okazaki-taiiku's voice. You were definitely focused on his voice. I think you can easily guess from the fact that this MV is intentionally made into a video with Japanese and English subtitles. Even if you didn't understand the meaning of each phrase, we had a great time with this rich music, their fun performances and your reactions. Thank you very much.🥰 PS: My bad habit has come out. Mr. Patrick, please guess my psychology. Please~~! 🥺😊

This song has a trick in it. Almost all the lyrics are written in English, but when Okazaki sings along MONKEY MAJIK, he actually sings in Japanese which sounds similar to the English lyrics. For example, while MONKEY MAJIK sings “Hey, I need you here babe”, Okazaki is singing “Heya niju heibei”, which means “My room is 20 square meters”. He is singing about daily life of a ryu-gaku-sei (international student). Okazaki has tried many funny experiments in his career, and this is one of them.
definitely love the humour of the language use! 🥰✌🏽

Monkey Majik is singing in English. Okazaki Taiiku sings in Japanese, which sounds just like the English that Monkey Majik sings in. And it's in Japanese that makes sense. In Japan, that's called "soramimi". It's amazing that he was able to write a song with such "soramimi".😀

MONKEY MAJIK and Okazaki-taiiku co-starred in NHK's morning drama "まんぷく / Manpuku", and they decided to collaborate on music. They were GHQ military personnel in the drama, and Okazaki-taiiku was a Japanese-American. I watched the appearance scene. ♡ I've known Okazaki-taiiku for a long time, but I learned that "岡崎体育/Okazaki-taiiku" is his stage name with "4 characters". It seems that it is not "岡崎/Okazaki" + "体育/Taiiku". I used to call him "体育君 / Taiiku-Kun / Mr. Taiiku". Tohoho...I was wrong until today. 😥 It seems that the Canadian brothers of MONKEY MAJIK dare to write lyrics in Japanese when writing songs. They say that they are writing Japanese lyrics because they are active in Japan and want to sing in Japanese. There were many entertainers and artists who were active in Japan for a short period of time, but when I see them settling in Japan for many years and working hard, I feel strongly that I want to support them. By the way, when Japanese people hear the word "モンキーマジック / Monkey Magic", they remember the drama "西遊記 / Saiyuuki / Monkey Magic", and in 1978 ゴダイゴ / GODIEGO sang "Monkey Magic" as an insert song of the drama. (One more, by the way, the animation "ドラゴンボール / Dragon Ball" is a homage to the story "西遊記 / Saiyuuki", and the names of characters such as 孫悟空 / Son Goku are named after this story. Mr. Patrick, you like anime Dragon Ball, right? The origin originates from this story.) Tom, an Englishman who was a former member of MONKEY MAJIK, watched the Japanese drama "西遊記 / Saiyuuki" in England when he was a child and loved it, so he named the band this name. He swapped "GIC" and "JIK" and named it "MONKEY MAJIK". GODIEGO has released a number of blockbuster songs with a wide range of musicality, songs that feel nostalgic even if they are exotic, and friendly songs that everyone will remember once they listen to them. Speaking of 1978, it was the year before the release of the song "異邦人 / Ihoujin" that Patrick reacted to. At that time, Japan was at the end of the period of high economic miracle, but it was a time when Japan was much more energetic than in the 2000s, and new sensibilities that stimulated music appeared one after another. That Godiego song is connected to the current "MONKEY MAJIK"! Very great!!! Thanks to your reaction, I was able to rediscover various things and immerse myself in my memories. Thank you very much! ♡ At the 15th anniversary, MONKEY MAJIK invited Godiego's Mr. Yukihide Takekawa to sing the original "Monkey Magic". If you like, I would be very happy if you could react to the video. "Monkey Magic" Budokan Live Official MV --- kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIfTfnSpbbJ7jKs I wanted to request their other songs, but when I remembered a lot, I wanted to listen to "Monkey Magic". Hahaha. 😊

In English, it's a love song. In Japanese instead, Okazaki is singing about the struggles about beeing a foreign student in abroad. It's hilarious and genious!
