It was made before. It's compatible with the standard STANAG magazines and will fit to the AR-15, though the magazine is made from steel (not aluminium) and has stronger springs. Original STANAG mags were designed to be disposal, given this they weren't meant for durability. When you reuse something that's designed for being disposal, you might encounter failures due to wear of the parts.

Basically it isn't. The HK 33 family are basically G3 rifles chambered to 5.56*45mm, they use proprietary mags incompatible with the AR-15. The G41 is an HK 33 featuring a forward assist and AR-15 compatible mags. The HK 53 is a short version of the HK 33.

hk g41 is a brilliant rifle. the use of roller-delayed blowback eliminate the need for plumbing part you usually find a gas operated rifle. that means it is more reliable, and the fact that it accept m16 magazine makes it useful to other nato nations. it is such a shame they let it die

This is not a G3, this is a variant of the HK33/53 series, with a magwell that takes M4/M16 style magazines instead of the propriatary HK mags.
@stridingshadow15 жыл бұрын
It isn't. The Stg.44 shares the same locking (tilting breechlock) principle with the SKS, AVS-36, SAFN-49 and the FAL, but not the AK (rotating bolt), nor the G3 (roller-delayed blowback developed from the CETME, which was developed from Stg.45).

Yup its still being mounted on many AFV's and Tanks. over 76 years now and its still in active service!

ya...it's designed for 556 nato though so it makes sense to use what's already available...i'd assume that was their rational with that choice.

Have you not noticed that it looks the same because its from the same company and HK like using this design. G3. MP5. G41. PSG1. Probably more i don't know about but these are guns made from same company based on the same design.
@markjin0814 жыл бұрын
lol the funny thing is that to me,German weaponry or H&K just produces weapons that look like they've been fused with other types of weapons. Any type of G3 rifle looks like an MP5 fused with a standard M4 lol

@Drunkways numbers on a sight are either Windage compensation or drop-off compensation (for sights) Basically for whatever distance it is, you aim at your target through the line the number is on

The CETME is originally an Stg.45 (German, designed by German engineers having fled Germany by the end of WWII).
@gelatinousturncoat14 жыл бұрын
@JesterSkywalker That's the point: to combine the mobility of the mp5 with the higher caliber of the M4. The chassis is already popular with special forces around the world, but the 9mm is showing age against modern body armor, thus an upgrade was in order.
@GreveSparf13 жыл бұрын
@thegod098 That's because the MP5 is a smaller caliber (9x19mm Parabellum) compact version of the G3, which this gun is a 5.56x45mm NATO version of. Thus, this gun is the middle ground between the G3 and the MP5.

soooo its basically a G3 chambered for 5.56? or is there a difference mechanically
@MrKehoeOUT13 жыл бұрын
These guns are actually quite rare. these were made as reserve weapons to replace the G3 when Germany was possibly facing war. But during their production the threat of war went away and the G3 was cancelled and the amount of G41's that were made was a lot smaller than attended and the only way to really see these guns are in museums. The G36 Was soon to out perform and would replace the weapon.
@Axemantitan15 жыл бұрын
The G3 family is descended from the StG. 45 via the CETME rifle. The StG. 44 was a different design altogether.
@Kaminah016 жыл бұрын
People have always been interested in tests of skill against other people. These games you play are basically that, you against someone else and only one will win. It is possible to become attached to the guns you use, because they help you beat people and give you that feeling you outsmarted or outskilled someone. I won't touch a P90, but I'll use a G3 any day of the week. So it could mean you're sort of attached to the gun, plus they are designed with some aesthetics in mind.

@shnydafyda it did exist before the end of the war, it was being developed by Walther but the war came to the end before it was mass produced, so the engineers fleed to Spain were they continued the rifle, and it was named the CETME and later was known as the G3 when West Germany asked for a new weapon
@clarkscoolskool15 жыл бұрын
Most of HK's weapons are based off the G3 design (PSG1, G36 and the MP5 is too but it's mechanics are different) so basically it is an assault rifle version of the G3.
@MikeNepo14 жыл бұрын
This is the whole story. After WW2, the Spanish military took the internal design of the MG-42 and lengthened it down to an assault rifle. This was the CETME. Then H&K made their own using the new 7.62 NATO round. This was the G-3. In order to suit the different needs of the militaries, they made it in a compact form (MP-5), a light support weapon (HK-21, G-41, etc.), and a sniper rifle (PSG-1, G3SG-1, etc.)

@Anthrax9200716 жыл бұрын
The Hk-53 is actually the Carbine/Short version of the Hk-33, which is a 5.56 derivative of the Hk-G3.

I had no idea this rifle existed! This uses the same ammunition as today's M4 and M16, right? When it comes to single shot capabilities, is the G3 extremely accurate and has very little recoil? As compared to other 7.62 rifles? I already know the range is legendary for an assault rifle, I just need to know how accurate and how bad the recoil is when on single shot.

@shnydafyda No, I said STG45, i meant STG45. It was a cheap ass version of the STG44, never mass produced but meant to remplace it, in 1945. When west germany asked for a new rifle, indigenous over the FN fal, HK made a rifle in new caliber (762 NATO) based off the STG45, this was G3.
