For whomever posted a thumbs down, please post your examples of you playing these better, so we all can learn from your "mastery!" Until then, I'll listen to and learn from these fine examples of maestro Hardenberger! You might have a different interpretation of these, but you'll be hard pressed to play them better! My former teacher David Kuehn (RIP - former first trumpet with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Vacchiano protege), played these quite well too and when phases repeated in these compositions, he did things like playing the first phrase slightly louder and when it repeated played it softer, as if an echo of the first, which I liked. but that's interpretation and everyone should be free to interpret these works and put there own stamp on them. Hakan is remarkably consistent on all of these in; interpretation, impeccable sound, attack and intonation, for me his performances of all the Charlier etudes are hard to find fault with. I await your "better versions" please share with us your delusions of grandeur and post them all 6 of you! I want to revel in your trumpet genius, so please don't hold back, we're waiting and either fame or infamy await you! Maybe you just don't like hearing these on C trumpet.

Sometimes I wonder if these are some kind of bot trolls or something, because some of the thumbs-downs I've seen on so many videos just don't make sense. I mean, if you hate the trumpet, or Charlier, or C trumpet, or WHATEVER...then why would you even respond? On its own terms and by any possible standards, this is gorgeous and impeccable playing by one of the world's greatest soloists. But whatever...maybe the thumbs-down people deserve our pity 😂

We used to say that musical brilliance - provided the 'raw material' is OK - is usually 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration... Must have taken a few bucketfuls to reach this level. Well done & thanks for sharing, stay safe & sound!

As always, lovely playing, but too much rhythmic freedom for my taste. If you don’t know the Piece, it is can be difficult to find where the beat is.
