Bella... "Col partir la bella Clori" - this aria performed by Maria Zadori on Hungaroton vinyl LP "Duets and Cantatas" opens for me baroque music thirty years ego. The arias and duets like "Troppo cruda, troppo fiera" performed in companion from Paul Esswood are mysterious and uncomparable. The second one, most significant, for me baroque performance is Nuria Rial and Lawrence Zazzo on "Duetti Amorozi" with "Caro amico amplesso!", "Io t'abbraccio" and finally "Addio! Mio caro bene".

I completely agree with you about the charm and expression of the Hungaroton recording: Zadori and Esswood, two voices ideally matched. I recommend also the recording of Agostino Steffani's duets, in which one or two are destined for two altos. This time, Esswood has Carolyn Watkinson as his partner: they sound like two sisters (or brothers, as you prefer!)
