I am a retired NASA engineer and is learning and reading an English edition of the "Red Chamber". The whole edition has 5, or 6 volumes. Each one has more than 400 pages. I am bothered with all the "guessing" of who, in the book, was real who in the stories. A writer could use different POV to write a story. It bothers me to discuss so much about the author. I do enjoy the descriptions of the characters, the settings, the conflicts, and the poetries even in the English edition. It would be time consuming to finish up my reading. I am happy to have this opportunity to follow the professor's presentation of the story. She is a great Professor and teacher among all the instructors I had in my fifty years of learning process.

@@pattychiu9408 Yes,I think so, she is a great professor. After you learned a lot of stories about the great author. You will feel more interesting of his writing. But I think it is better to read Chinese edition.
listen to this lecture, I wonder if here is the description of the characters and the settings of the story according to a third person POV story writing approach by Cao? At the same time, I like to know if there was a so called "POV" concept in the Chinese story writing, I would appreciate some one or the professor could comment on "POV" ! Thank you!
