體長80~90公分。虹膜褐色。嘴黑色。腳橘黃色。
成鳥黑且長之嘴與前額成一直線，嘴基有一條狹窄白色條紋。頭頂至後頸暗棕褐色，背部暗褐色，羽緣淺白色。尾羽黑褐色，末端及外側白色。頰、喉、前頸、上腹淺褐色，脇部有黑褐色橫斑，下腹、尾下覆羽白色。
幼鳥頭頂至後頸羽色較暗，嘴基無白色條紋，脇部黑褐色橫斑較不明顯。
分布
繁殖於西伯利亞南部、庫頁島、蒙古、中國東北部；冬季遷徙至朝鮮半島、日本、中國華南等地禦寒。少數迷鳥可見於台灣。

The feathers from the top of the head to the back of the neck of the young bird are darker, there are no white stripes at the base of the bill, and the dark brown horizontal spots on the flanks are less obvious.
Distributed
Breeds in southern Siberia, Sakhalin Island, Mongolia, and Northeast China; in winter, it migrates to the Korean Peninsula, Japan, South China and other places to keep out the cold. A few stray birds can be found in Taiwan.
