Hark, Heaven's Maker what every poet asks; That thy mercy may come to me softly: Thus I call to thee, for you have created me; I am thy peon and you are my master. God, I call upon thee to weep for me; to remember that I am fragile and thus need you the most. Oh, drive out the roots of my wrath, so generous and above all, every sorrow that has taken hold of my heart's fortress. Reach for me, o' mild one, when I need you the most; preferably every moment - in a world that you possess. Send us, Son of the Virgin, the beauty of creation and all aid from thee into my heart.

@@jwpipes47 The translation "hear me, smith of the heavens" is more correct. Maybe translators translated it to "heavens maker" since it makes more sense in English. Smith, or smithing something in most Nordic languages can also mean to create/creator. So both is right in a sense. Most beautiful in this is that Smiður has many meanings. It can also mean carpenter, and according to accounts Jesus was a carpenter. So heavenly carpenter being Jesus.

That harmony at 2:02 is quite possibly the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard. I cannot stop replaying it. It’s as if, for just a fleeting moment, the heavens opened up and the Angels joined the choir. You guys created something transcendent here.

How can anyone have given this a thumbs down? The voices, the cadence, the sheer beauty of it all. I've watched this twice and have been in tears both times. I wish my Mum and Dad could hear this as they'd be spellbound. My Dad was stationed in Reykjavik during World War Two so I wonder if he heard it. Is it modern? It sounds like Gregorian Chant but with better harmony.

Here you go:Heyr, himna smiður, hvers skáldið biður. Komi mjúk til mín miskunnin þín. Því heit eg á þig, þú hefur skaptan mig. Eg er þrællinn þinn, þú ert drottinn minn. Guð, heit eg á þig, að þú græðir mig. Minnst þú, mildingur, mín, mest þurfum þín. Ryð þú, röðla gramur, ríklyndur og framur, hölds hverri sorg úr hjartaborg. Gæt þú, mildingur, mín, mest þurfum þín, helzt hverja stund á hölda grund. Send þú, meyjar mögur, málsefnin fögur, öll er hjálp af þér, í hjarta mér. The Literal translation is: Hear, smith of the heavens, what the poet asks. May softly come unto me thy mercy. So I call on thee, for thou hast created me. I am thy slave, thou art my Lord. God, I call on thee to heal me. Remember me, mild one, Most we need thee. Drive out, O king of suns, generous and great, human every sorrow from the city of the heart. Watch over me, mild one, Most we need thee, truly every moment in the world of men. send us, son of the virgin, good causes, all aid is from thee, in my heart. The poem has been translated so that it can be easily sung in English ( and other languages) so you will see many "translations" out there.

Most are. They are descendants of the Norse after all. Much like everyone has natural silky raven hair in South Korea. It's simply the native populations, unmarred.

Many are but not all. Genetic studies have worked out that of the original settlers most of the men were Nordic but most of the women were of Celtic origin from the British Isles. I also found this map! Looks like blondness is on a level with North England and Scotland. www.politics.ie/forum/eu/51354-blonde-map-europe.html

+髭黒 The hymn is called Heyr Himna Smiður, which means "Hear, Smith of heavens". Lyrics: "Hear, smith of the heavens, what the poet asks. May softly come unto me thy mercy. So I call on thee, for thou hast created me. I am thy slave, thou art my Lord. God, I call on thee to heal me. Remember me, mild one,[1] Most we need thee. Drive out, O king of suns, generous and great, human every sorrow from the city of the heart. Watch over me, mild one, Most we need thee, truly every moment in the world of men. send us, son of the virgin, good causes, all aid is from thee, in my heart."
