I think the moon turns them into the person they don’t want to be and Rikki struggle with herself so when she was effected by the moon she became the person she sees herself as 2. Rebekah W. Here’s my analysis: When Emma was affected by the full moon, she was the exact opposite of her normal self. On a regular day she’s uptight, rule-abiding, and predictable. On the full moon, she was carefree/careless (different meanings yet both apply), wild, and unpredictable. To me, this suggests Emma secretly wants to be that carefree. Despite what she says, she wants to be fun and unpredictable. On Cleo’s night, she went from being shy, awkward, and unable to sing to a siren who was charismatic and loved by boys. On regular days, she has trouble confessing her feelings to boys (especially one boy 😉), but during the full moon being popular with them came naturally. While it may not necessarily be boys she craves attention and recognition from, she wants to be more like that, and the full moon brought it out in her. She became the person she wanted to be. But Rikki is a mystery not only to everyone else, but to her own friends. Emma tells Cleo this in season two, “we’ve been friends for a while but I still feel like we know nothing about her” (paraphrased bc I forgot the exact quote). Rikki has a defensive exterior, uses humour and sarcasm to keep people out, and acts mean as a method of driving people further away. She doesn’t even like compliments because they make her feel trapped. Her tough guy act is all a facade, she doesn’t know who she is and she’s insecure about it. And the full moon pulls down her mental walls, leaving her vulnerable and scared, so she tries literally isolating herself as a last resort. Sorry it’s so long, but I hope that makes sense :)

Lewis does so much to help the girls and they didn’t even give him the time of day , he’s such a lovely friend could really have a friend like him . He always makes sure the girls are safe and looked after , he worships them he kept their secret and still saved them every time their secret nearly fell through . He deserves happiness too . He only ever worries about their happiness what about his . He looks up to the girls and all they do is put him down and act like he’s the odd one out . He stopped them growing a tail and they never said thanks . I know he can a bit over the top but he’s a really good friend. Wish I had a friend like Lewis .

In fact the writers make them almost down right psychotic. Rikki is a rebel who does her own thing and has her own way of thinking but she knows when not take things too far and that she can't always have her way whereas Jade and Sam will probably destroy property or hurt someone if they don't get their way. Also she doesn't bully or demean those who prefer not to be rebellious and follow the rules like Jade does to her "friends" Tori and Cat and Sam does to Freddie. You can tell that Rikki has feelings and that she can be vunerable and explains why she needs friends like Cleo and Emma. And she understands that sometimes you have to make sacrifices and compromise, put your friends and boyfriend first sometimes. It's not always about you. With Jade and Sam they're almost always mean spirited and almost never show any emotion other than angry, crazy, or rebellious. And it's always about them. They pretty much manipulate their friends into doing or getting them what they want. I can't recall them ever compromising or even making a sacrifice for someone they cared for. And they verbally or physically abuse their love interests. It's like the writers didn't humanize any of their characters at all.

I'm on my H2O marathon, God! How I missed these mermaids. Btw, Rikki's powers is one heck of a hot stuff. It's like Elsa's powers, "Fear can be your enemy" Lol. And the last statement of Rikki at the end of the episode was foreshadowing the start of her feelings for him. My ship is sailing after 10 years again. 😂
