Ethan has, in his Hot ones video, said that Papa John is the one personality that they have talked about and made a meme of that they can never get a hold of. they think its mostly die to the fact that papa john himself isn't a youtuber or online personality, so there wouldn't really be a reason for him to fly down to LA and waste half an afternoon making a video with them. i'm sure one day he'll make an appearance, but not for a while.

I think a lot of people are painting the "elephant in the room" part as worse than it was. You can tell from the beginning that Ethan was being careful with how he spoke about it. Jon wanted to clear things up and get it over with, and he was the one to start talking about it after the first time he said he didn't want to get too deep into it. He wasn't pushed into it by Ethan. Jon seemed pretty ready and willing to answer everything Ethan asked him. He may very well have wanted that topic to end sooner than it did, but he answered everything pretty immediately, it's not like Ethan had to drag an answer out of him. And Ethan didn't say he disagreed as some sort of virtue signal, it was to introduce the idea that even if you do disagree with someone, you can still be friends with them, and that just writing them off as evil isn't the way to handle things. Ethan even outright disagreed with the people asking how he could _possibly_ be friends with Jon. If you think Ethan could've handled it better, that's fine, but I think it's ridiculous that some people are claiming that Ethan "isn't a real friend," when this conversation was preceded by and followed by an hour of what's obviously three friends shooting the shit and having fun together. It's obvious that they're close friends, and have each other's best interests in mind. If Ethan were really trying to tarnish Jon's reputation, he could have done so much worse. He spent most of this in agreement with Jon about what happened, and supported his right to think what he wants. Personally I think that that conversation actually did Jon well. I had been hoping that he would get a chance to explain himself and his views on what went down in that debate, and I think this did that. I think a lot of people were left wondering where Jon stood on all this, since he didn't say much about it after it was done, so this was a good way to put an end to it. I think Jon handled himself really well here, a lot better than he did in the debate, and people who might have been iffy about him will respond well to that.

To people with newly found interest in this video and are wondering what the 5 minutes of this podcast that caused confusion is about - a few years ago JonTron was invited by Destiny (a political commentator) to debate with him on his livestream covering general political/philosophical views due to some interesting political tweets that Jon had posted previous to the invite. “In early 2017, Jafari faced backlash from media outlets and fans after making public comments on race and immigration” - JonTron’s wiki page. During the live-stream of the debate, Jon made it appear as though he had/has alt-right or white nationalist views throughout his attempted arguments. It’s still in the air as to whether he really holds those views or not but it made a lot of people question/accuse him of being a nazi. I’m a big fan of his content but disagree with the fact-less points he was attempting to make. Nonetheless Jon definitely entered into something he wasn’t prepared for, as he says in the podcast. You can find highlights of the debate by searching for “JonTron Destiny debate.” This moment had a big impact on his public image and as anybody would- he wants to leave the embarrassing moment in the past. I do agree though that we should be more open to the other person’s opinion and we shouldn’t be so quick to assume or misjudge just because we disagree. We’re all guilty of hastily assuming or putting our own foot in our mouths at some point. 1:31:00 is such a wholesome conversation.
