thank you to anyone watching this! This is my longest video essay and over 200 hours of editing from across all of 2023. I am excited to share why I love this show and how I think they push so much far forward past other comedy shows and podcasts because of the love and care of their staff. If anyone from h3 sees this love ya sm, and thanks for making such a hilarious and fun show

A podcast that uses cheap green screen graphics, poor lighting, with a pillhead obese host and a IDF soldier who barely speaks English who constantly whine about being demonetized all the while running ads and taking donations as millionaires is not an innovative podcast.

for those who don't know, Zach's sound byte archive (his main one anyway) lets him add labels to each sound byte, and then he can search for sound bytes by label. as he types in the search box, the sound bytes automatically list to the side with each letter he types (like a google search). so there is a combination of immaculate prep, knowing exactly how to tag EVERY sound byte (there are probably over a thousand), typing very fast, having the good comedic timing, making the mental connection to know which tag to type. Literally, Zach goes into flow state and stays there for the entire show, more or less. there are not many musicians or entertainers that can do that. or rather, its the best entertainers who can just drop into flow state immediately and stay there

Ethan once talked about how they wanted to rebrand the pod as a variety show because it is more of a show than a podcast. I think this is the reason why it's so different than the other podcasts, you can only listen to it if that's what you want but it'll be funnier to watch it because of their visual gags.

I am only 10 minutes in so maybe you will mention this later on, but I think the biggest thing that makes this show stand out from 90% or the other podcasts on the internet is that it’s LIVE! It feels so much more real and interactive and even crazier when you realize all the green screen, camera switching, and special effects are done in real time (not just edited in post)

42:35 I am so glad you are making this point lmao. So many people hate on him because "he's changed" when the podcast is literally just a 3-hour live version of the h3h3 reaction videos he used to make.

Yeah, it's usually obsessive weirdos who latch on to the idea that Ethan can't do anything right. They're simultaneously mad that he's "changed" bc he doesn't say slurs anymore, while being mad that he makes fun of the people that DO say slurs

Buddy, please, I know I am just another voice amongst many. I know lots of people have said this…. But this is important. You have something INCREDIBLY special here. Not just due to the topic (which, as a family member is a great one I will admit lol) but because of YOU and what YOU have created. You are the kind of person that….. let me say it like this- I have only (so far) seen this one video from you. Yet your editing and video scripting/organization style is just so good that I would bet money that I would know your editing signature anywhere and could pick your video out of a bunch. This is coming from a 25 yr old mom of 3 under 3. So it’s not like I’m some genius in catching editing patterns either. You’ve got something unbelievably special here. Please do not stop. This was, in my opinion, the best homage ever paid to this prolific podcast in the history of KZbin. I think this work will become far more important and pivotal than you could ever understand in this moment- or frankly, that any of us can ever understand in this moment. You have an inherent vision that must not be ignored. Whilst ironically creating such a masterpiece you spend so much time crediting each and every individual member of the H3 crew and truly holding space for them and all of their different and important talents. Yet here you are creating THIS. A MASTERPIECE. You have created no just a prolific work but a prolific moment in the cannon and on KZbin overall in my opinion. I just cannot overstate how well the entire analyzation and breakdown you have done is. I cannot imagine the insurmountable amount of work you put into this over time. I hope you are so proud. I hope you know how important you are in this moment as well as every moment moving forward. You are the beauty and talent and positivity of the internet. I apologize for the swooning and fawning, but I am just severely impressed and blown away by your perspective, your talent, your dedication, and so much more. I will cut my rambling short, though I could go on much longer. Please just know that you are seen, you are heard, you are deeply loved and appreciated and have cemented you place into the lore of the H3 family MUCH DESERVEDLY. All of my best to you my man. I really mean that. I’m thankful you exist on this earth, on this platform, and in this community. I’m thankful to have the privilege of watching your content and truly appreciating it for how important it is. ❤. You are a blessing in this community. You have incredible accomplishments coming. That I have no doubt of.

14:44 idk if anybody else has noticed but Zach's humor also comes into play when he drops music cause he starts bits like this. In this moment he thought it'd be funny to start the godfather bit so he plays the music which gets Ethan going, and then Ian ties it together with the graphic. It's a well oiled machine and I love knowing that Zach can just get Ethan going into a funny bit, like the preacher or the southern man. Keep an eye out for moments like these, they start because of Zach

This was so well done! I hope they acknowledge you; You deserve it! I was late to the party, and discovered h3 at the Sam Seder v Steven Crowder episode. It was obvious I was missing out on a lot by not having the backstory of the running memes and sound bites. A few weeks later I was stuck in bed nursing an injury for about 2 weeks, so I made a playlist going all the way back to the very beginning, every video from all four channels, and watched in chronological order. It was really neat to see the evolution of the whole thing. Later on, I decided to include Ethan and Hila's appearances on other channels, from Good Mythical Morning episodes way back in the day to Bradley Martyn's podcast, all the way to the most recent, JeffFM. This video is just so well done that I think it deserves to also be included. Thank you so much for putting in an amazing amount of work to create this! What a lovely walk down memory lane! I know I'll enjoy coming back to rewatch again and again. 🩵 Here's the link if you want to check it out: h3h3: The Complete Anthology - kzbin.info/aero/PLhFlVAmpj6e2iFNMyKttnSgN9aKC_QX5S&si=Anbhho38RzZFhC28
