Lady Skeptic what are you talking about? You can buy corporate or government bonds, precious metals, there are also numerous apps that allow you to purchase stock. Investment isn’t about trying to hit the lottery, it’s about long term saving. Also the $500 thing is closer to 50% and not exactly an accurate representation. That 50% includes people that would have to cut expenses or borrow from family/friends, take out a pay day loan, take an overdraft etc. This is also because banks are are a lot more strict with giving out credit than they were 15 years ago, back in 2008 a bank would give a jobless college freshmen a credit card with a $2000 limit and give a second mortgage to someone upside down $50k on a home.

Kids can't tell the difference between a person who genuinely wants to offer them an opportunity and someone who offers them a chance to be exploited.
