Fun side note that incidentally ups the abortion numbers. Even pregnancies that are not viable and have to be ended are still categorized under “abortions”. I had an ectopic pregnancy a few years back and had to have surgery to remove it as I was bleeding internally from the ruptured Fallopian tube. In other words, I would have died in days if I hadn’t terminated the “pregnancy” (which was really just a fertilized egg that hadn’t even made it to my uterus yet). When I saw a doctor a few years later he was looking through my medical history and said “oh, you’ve had an abortion?” And I was like “no, I had an ectopic pregnancy a few years back” and he said “oh, ok, that’s still listed under abortion as it’s technically ending a pregnancy.“ so, yea, I’m sure that’s a HUGE part of why the numbers are so high. They also include pregnancies that were never viable in the first place.

@amandamandamands
@amandamandamands Жыл бұрын
Yes that was what I came here to say too, these sort of people don't understand that anything related to a pregnancy ending is medically considered an abortion, miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion, having surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy is an abortion. That is what is bad about the new laws everywhere it can make it hard to get a D&C because they are then helping an abortion.
@emigrace3228
@emigrace3228 Жыл бұрын
There are many issues with their numbers. Yes, "abortion" medically encompasses pregnancy termination, no matter the circumstances (choice or no choice) Secondly the numbers have zero time frame. The genocides mentioned have a finite timeframe. Then they compare to some random number with no dates.. just "abortion since the beginning of time"? How is this a just comparison?

It's pretty manipulative to show the week by week, and then jump straight to a near-term fetus before the flatline sound. Most abortions are done in that 8 week period, and really late term abortions are exceedingly rare and nearly always done due to extreme health problems with the fetus. Usually, a pregnancy is aborted in the last months because the baby is going to die no matter what, and it's less cruel to effectively euthanize them in the womb than allowing them to be born only to experience pain and death. People who are super against abortion really seem to have a hard time wrapping their heads around the fact that reproduction is messy and difficult and doesn't always have some perfect happy ending.

@d[llp; d In most states you can have an abortion up until 24 weeks but less than 1% of abortions are performed after 22 weeks. The third trimester of pregnancy is week 27-40. I get what you’re saying but women are not going to go through 9 months of pain to flippantly choose to kill a full term baby. Multiple doctors have to agree that the woman will suffer serious/permanent mental damage by continuing the pregnancy to perform a third trimester abortion in Virginia. No woman is having a late term abortion because she’s a little nervous

I’m a mother, I’m married and I have a great support system. I got an abortion. Not every story of someone terminating a pregnancy begins with some tragic story. Externally, my situation was fine, but internally I was at my breaking point. That doesn’t mean it was easy or fun to do. It’s been a few years and it still sits at the back of my mind. But I do not regret it. I am so thankful these two privileged air heads have taken time to step down from the pedestal they’ve built for themselves long enough to film this video. Their daughters will reflect back on this moment in 20 years when they’re explaining to their therapist why they no longer speak with their parents.

So actually you CAN “abort” a baby up until delivery, at least in Canada. The problem is that people omit the fact that any babies being “aborted” in this stage often either have a fatal condition, are actively killing the mother or have died in the womb and mother is not going into/unable to go into labour.
@IJustNeedMoreSleep
@IJustNeedMoreSleep Жыл бұрын
I think it’s different. Abortion is terminating a pregnancy so it doesn’t continue to develop. If the baby has already died it’s a stillborn and they would have to induce labor. 26:50 there’s no medical way to distinguish between an abortion and miscarriage that ends in a D and C. It’s the same procedure so it makes me so frustrated when these crazy high abortion statistics are shown in pro-life ads because there’s no way to separate what is an abortion and what is a D and C. Medical categories don’t take intention and emotion into account. It’s literally the same procedure so it’s all one statistic.
@mobyduckyyy

what’s frustrating with the statistics they used is deaths caused by “smoking” or “heart disease” have so many other health conditions that correlate with them. Oftentimes it’s difficult to pinpoint a cause a death because of this. For example: many people die because of lung related diseases as a result of smoking, but it’s very difficult in medicine to declare they died because of smoking as there’s so much factoring into our health. Takeaway: causation DOES NOT equal correlation

And so what if there are 2,000+ abortions a day? (that is definitely false) but women have the right to decide what’s best for their own bodies so who cares the #? Abortion is healthcare. Abortion is a legal right. And a woman can choose this no matter the reason, doesn’t have to be something extreme like rape or incest. It’s an easy decision if you know you don’t ever want kids and it saves unwanted kids from having horrible lives with parents who can’t or don’t want to take care of them. I’m so tired of abortion shaming. This documentary is super cringe. Thanks for roasting it. Peace and love. Papa bless.

It’s true but missing info. So the removal of an etopic pregnancy is coded as an abortion, a D&C which is used to remove a miscarriage is a coded abortion, shit a miscarriage is even coded as a spontaneous abortion. It’s easy to just say abortion kills this many a day without breaking down how we get that number.

So being from the UK, specifically England, where abortion has been an option for decades, this debate baffles me. We don't even really have this debate anymore. We have rules - like and elective abortion has to happen before 28 weeks I think (or some other time frame) - but it's our choice. And obviously medical emergencies with the mother or the baby are allowed to. There is no reason to bring more unloved children into this world. As a teacher, I see every day parents messing up their kids because they don't have the skills, means, time or compassion to raise them right. We don't need more of that in this world, I promise you.

Rich conservatives are at the top of the capitalist pyramid and use influence and money to shape the US. Same reason why gun laws don’t change. NRA gives thousands of dollars to politicians on _both_ sides so that no matter who gets into office, they won’t pass any gun laws. Continuing the cycle of poverty, mental illness, student/medical debt, etc reliance on others means they will stay rich and the poor will stay poor. We have 37 mill people below the poverty line and the lower-middle class is one $10k emergency away from falling into poverty. Our government is corrupt, period.

I was watching Mama Doctor Jones' video on the Texas situation and one of the problems with the law that she brought up was that there isn't a definitive line for health care workers on when they can terminate a pregnancy to save someone's life. Any premature ending of a pregnancy could be considered an abortion, even delivering a fetus that won't survive to save the mother... Abortion bans are wrong no matter what, but when healthcare workers are so scared of breaking the law or getting sued that they can't save someone... A lot of people are about to die.
@amandamandamands
@amandamandamands Жыл бұрын
Yes, the law in Ireland change because that happened. The Drs were too afraid to do something when the mother was in sepsis as her waters had broken but the foetus still had a heartbeat so they legally couldn't perform an abortion (the foetus was 17 weeks). The Drs agreed that the pregnancy wasn't viable and she was going to eventually miscarry but that wasn't enough.

I think the weird feeling associated with the word “mentor” is because in corporate culture, that idea is pushed to hell and to the point where people will get a “mentor” just to say they have one. But genuinely forming a connection with someone who can help guide you through a job, or through a tough part of life (because they have already been through it themselves) can be extremely valuable. As a single mom of a four year old queen, I got pregnant at 27 and as someone who for weeks & weeks on end debated having an abortion. I was using hard drugs at the time that I found out I was pregnant and my daughters dad still struggles with addiction. I thank Allah, I’m five years clean Mashallah. But yeah, I didn’t debate an abortion because I wanted to keep using. I debated having an abortion because raising a child in that life with those emotional deficits, it’s a hard decision and as a mom who wasn’t even a mother yet I loved that cluster of cells and I love that girl more than myself so I didn’t want her to struggle and have parents who struggled and now I live in an apartment her and I & she’s in a great school zone. I work at her daycare and she’s going to start school in our district next year. I busted my ass to make sure things work out and we still struggle but that was my choice. I knew that I couldn’t live with myself If I had an abortion it’s a deep emotional decision, like Ethan said no ones out here doing it for fun. ❤ fupa troopa for life!

I am pro choice, however i do agree that SOME women treat this procedure lightly... and I think that it's sad because this is a serious procedure that will change your life forever and also a very traumatic experience both mentally and physically. I think that the question lies more on the prevention of avoiding abortions with contraception, information and responsibility. However some situation are sadly unavoidable (like rape for example) and that is why I am pro choice. But overall women AND MEN need to be aware of the consequences of sex (protected or not because accidents happen) they should be responsible and discuss this topic because it is crucial in our society.
@ismth
@ismth 11 ай бұрын
I don't think its fair to say getting an abortion is going to change a woman's life forever and is very traumatic I think you're hyperbolizing a bit here. For some women for specific reasons it can be, for others its just taking a pill, not that deep. I totally agree with your point about encouraging safe sex and prevention though. Still, abortion should always be an option and be freely available to whoever needs or wants one.
@katpcrd59
@katpcrd59 11 ай бұрын
@@ismth I do agree that the experience of taking a pill is definitely less impactful than a full procedure for sure. Unfortunately, people interpret the Bible in a way that promotes their agenda or lines up with their beliefs. The Bible is a collection of books written by different humans that make mistakes to an audience thousands of years ago in several different countries addressing different circumstances and social environments very different from today. It is important to know the intention, context, and historical background of verses in the Bible before using it to justify beliefs. There are good things to learn from the Bible, but it should not be taken as the handbook for your life or God's word for word recitation or inspiration. It has to be read with context in mind, or else it may be used as a deadly weapon.

@@Da_NooB_21 you're exactly right. Lots of ppl here in the south don't even bother to learn the context and differences in our modern translation. I finally learned what Christianity meant and fell in love with God. The pastors encouraged us to learn on our own and seek knowledge and understanding. -Well I definitely did not expect to right this much :/ if you made it this far, thanks for reading!

In any other situation the law would already value bodily autonomy. Doctors can't cut out your organs without your permission, even to save other people. You can't be forced to be hooked up to another person to give them blood constantly without your say so. Why should people who can give birth be forced to do so against their will?
