The tour companies are working on reducing plastic waste. They banned any packaged product sales on board. Unfortunately it is still possible to by products from locals that come by in smaller boats and we have also seen some products that tourists won’t typically buy (like packaging of frozen meals). We hope the tour operators continue working with the government to reduce the plastic waste and to educate people!

It sparks a conversation as we can attest. If everyone filters out experiences like that, that doesn’t help either. While I’m sure that tourism unfortunately continues to the pollution, the majority of the trash we saw was from products that tourists typically would not consume. The tour operators also banned single used plastic on board a while ago, which is a great first step in the right direction.

It’s true been there last week, the view is nice the experience is 30 plus ships embark down a stretch of river water route and run you through a stereo typical routine. First stop kayak or row boot excursion then back to ship food ( my son got food poisoning from small pieces of thawed frozen pizza served with a couple of French fries on a pineapple. Looked good but as vegetarian dish ?) Then farther down the route overnight net day back to start. The water and shores has plastic waste floating around everywhere. We had a time slot for swimming but I rejected the water was not very clean.

Tourists don't leave such trash behind. On the contrary, all over South East Asia, the Caribbean and even the Mediterranean, it's often the tourists who organize clean-up drives of local beaches and invariably the locals who pollute the environment. Trying to claim the opposite is both deeply dishonest and counterproductive for the countries themselves, as they'll only lose tourists and the income tourism generates. All of the countries of Asia need to launch long-term public education campaigns to teach their populations NOT to litter and how to keep their own environment clean and tidy.

Change your thinking.. Young people are doing the right thing, I've seen them on the beach picking up the trash The young educated people will change and shape Vietnam. I'm so humbled by them. I don't know why there are some people that doesn't know where a trash should belong.

Jennie Mae just did a video on her channel talking about this place, while visiting. She didn't show none of this!!! I still felt bad for them families having to live on the waters. And then what about when the weather is bad ...?! Jesus bless these people with whatever that's needed to survive better out there or better resources to just come out to fish, but not have to live out there!🙏🏽🙏🏽🥺😢😢😢😢

I knew it, there's always a part 2. Btw, thank you for being honest. I completely overlooked this problem watching all the other vlogs about how beautiful some places are. And I know, I'd be super dissapointed if I went to these places, expecting paradise, and then finding all the trash.

I think a better title coulve been used to raise awareness. The message could've been addressed without a bratty and dismissive tone. I hope you look forward to developing as a content creator.

Sometimes it’s clean, sometimes it’s trashy. It seems like it depends on the current and season. Like after a storm, trashes are carried and washed up on the shore from somewhere else.

Entire Vietnam is like that actually. Just leave the tourist areas and move 5 minutes into the suburbs. That's it.

That garbage in the ocean is from tourists. Don't bash vietnam and don't blame them for what tourists do. That's rude and not accurate. Judging that country isn't cool.

When I was in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon. I was blown away at the amount of pollution everywhere. It’s heartbreaking and disgusting what they are doing to their country. To blame the tourist is just ridiculous. It’s everywhere in the country.

Halon Bay is one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen. It’s true however that all the rubbish is extremely unfortunate. Those making money from the place should be made responsible for its maintenance.

I’m going to Vietnam in July. I’m already going to Ninh Binh (I watched your subsequent video). Is there another day trip you’d recommend from Hanoi?
@Roadmap2Adventures
@Roadmap2Adventures Жыл бұрын
Hi Cody! How long are you going to Vietnam for? Are you visiting just northern Vietnam or planning to travel north to south? From Hanoi we also recommend doing the 3 day Ha Giang motorbike loop if you have time. The views are amazing! We did an easy rider tour with Cheers Hostel which includes transportation from Hanoi. We’ll be posting more videos from Vietnam in the next few weeks so stay tuned for more. 😃

@@Roadmap2Adventures I’m going for three weeks and I’m going from south to north actually. That loop looks unreal. I’m planning on doing Sapa. Where does the loop rank on your top things to do in Vietnam? Is it worth shuffling things around for?
@Roadmap2Adventures
@Roadmap2Adventures Жыл бұрын
@@cody_malloy For us the loop ranks at the top of the list of things to do in Vietnam. We were in Vietnam for 4 weeks and this loop was a highlight of our trip. Many people we met on the tour said the same thing. We did not go to Sapa so we can’t compare but we did have friends who did both and they ranked Ha Giang loop higher. If it’s possible to fit it into your itinerary we highly recommend it! We have full length videos of Day 1 and Day 2 of the loop posted on our channel if you want to see more of the experience.

100%. Was there for a 2 night cruise last week and there was a lot of trash in the water. Both kayaking beach/swimming trips we did everyone just spent time picking up litter from the beach and water. You wouldn’t swim in the water for the litter and also all the oil/fuel on the surface from little boats. Rubbish is from locals and fisherman eg polystyrene containers degrading, as well as just being sea debris.
