HAARZUILENS | The village that was moved to build a castle @ Haarzuilens (2023)

Check out the village of Haarzuilens, the village that was moved at the end of the 19th century to make room for the restoration of De Haar Castle and its gardens. The village used to be situated around the ruins of House De Haar, but the new owners decided to hire famous architect Pierre Cuypers, who created a pseudo-medieval castle (De Haar Castle) and also designed the new look of the village of Haarzuilens, at its new location, a kilometre away of its former position around the ruins of the former castle.
Het dorpje Haarzuilens in 2023, toen de dorpsbewoners het 125-jarig bestaan van het dorp vierden op haar 'nieuwe' locatie, een kilometer verwijderd van haar vorige locatie rond de ruines van het voormalige Huis De Haar. De nieuwe eigenaren van de ruine lieten architect Pierre Cuypers aan het einde van de 19e eeuw een nieuw kasteel bouwen op de ruines van het voormalige kasteel in een pseudo-middeleeuwse stijl. Het dorpje werd op de nieuwe locatie in dezelfde stijl opnieuw opgebouwd.
