We got a spinner 1530 and you'd have to restart the Machine like 5 times and then manually turn a screw to retract the gears....remind you its a Machine from 2016...so this is awesome to see !

ok I have 2 of these mills where I work and 1 has the double arm spin counter clockwise which makes sense to me because the force of spinning would push the tool into the arm but the other has a problem dropping tools and the arm spins clockwise. is there any way I could change the direction it spins?

This is a total pain on OKK machines with Mitsubishi controllers. You have to run a dozen different m codes in mdi to return the arm and pockets.

Hello suraj, The grease we're using here to lubricate the various parts of the SMTC and the tool holder is Red-i extreme pressure grease. But most high quality high pressure industrial/automotive greases will work fine as well. The important thing is to apply the lubricant regularly so these surfaces are not making contact in a "dry" state. Thanks for the question.

What if it alarms when there are 2 tools in the arm? It stopped and alarmed mid tool change. The arm didn't drop down far enough to push the pin and release the tool for manual removal. Both tools are in the arm, but one is still in the spindle and the other is in the pocket. It's a 2008 VF4, and it just makes me nervous to continue with the recovery instructions, because none of them mention the situation the arm and tools are in

Throw Away - It's hard to be 100% sure without inspecting the machine and checking diagnostics, but the way you've described it the control would recognize that a tool change was started but the TRP (tool release piston) switch was never reached. So recovery step one should be to slowly lower the double arm until the that switch is reached, meaning you should be able to remove the tools at that point. I know you posted your comment yesterday so you've probably tried something by now, but if you haven't hopefully this helps. Haas Automation

@@haasautomation Thank you for your reply! I ended up choking the rapid to 5% and tried pressing the ATC REV button (with my fingers crossed) to get the arm out of the way. I had to press it about 10-15 times until the arm rotated back to its origin, removed the tool from the spindle, and finished the recovery. The pocket went back up, and everything worked as normal. Hasn't done it since.

Same problem - tool was inserted incorrectly and both are stuck. Automatic recovery fails, and does NOT give an option for manual recovery. Tool release won't work since the tool is still in the arm. Releasing the arm lock manually while pressing tool release doesn't achieve anything either. Can't put pocket up as other tool is in that one too. Ugh@@throwaway8962

Grease should not be used, because grease is tough, will cause dirt or iron powder to adhere and damage the pull ball stud set. Using oil and air to blow dry enough to be better
