Haato no Eeesu ga Detekonai (The Ace of Hearts is Not Turning Up) by Candies.
With English subtitles created by me.
Notes:
1. "Kimete" is translated as "trump card", although it just means "winning move" or "decisive factor", not involving a playing card metaphor. The choice of "trump card" ties in with the card reading theme of the song: the winning move she doesn't have is the sought-after ace of hearts which isn't showing up.
2. For a similar reason, "toboketa kao" is translated as "poker face", forging yet another connection to playing cards.
3. Although "Chiisana kissu-o ubaware sou de" is subtitled as "A little kiss, I might steal" it is actually in the passive voice, and could have been better translated as "A little kiss might be stolen" (i.e. by a certain someone, who shall remain nameless).
4. I did some searching to find out what kind of microphones the Candies are using in this performance. The vocals seem more punchy than in the album version (which of course has to do with the console the mics are going into and other factors). I believe the mics are Shure SM 54's or possibly SM 53's. I found this by looking through the pictures on this very cool microphone information website: www.coutant.org....
5. Sometimes this song's title appears "romanized" as "Heart no Ace ga Detekonai". I do not believe that it is valid to write Japanese phrases of foreign origin by replacing some of their words with original foreign words. "Haato" and "eesu" are Japanese words (of obvious English origin). "Heart no Ace" is neither Japanese, nor English; it is "Japanglish".
