Oh well! This is how low we've become as a Society. The Irony is most of the development we see such as SCHOOLS. HOSPITALS, roads etc were built by Ras Mekonen, his descendants & all brave Ethiopians from all walks of lives decades ago! What will be the legacy of the current 🙄 generation? 🤔 I wish they use their energy instead to clean up, maintain & preserve the neglected & deteriorated City which was once striving

Its so sad last time I went I took a pic thank God. The local govt is also part of it. If it wasnt for minilick and the Garages Amharas Gurages Sheewa oromos etc Harer Diredawa Harerge wouldn't have grown. It was just desert before. The trains and schools would not have opened the city would not have grown. This ppl now r treated like outsiders. Our ppl went to fight and protect tge land from somalia army. Now they call those ppl neftegna. But if it wasnt fr them it would be Somalia. Now if u r non oromo or hareri u cant find jobs in Harer and if u are not somali or oromo u cant find job in Diredawa. They r supposed to be federal cities. And otger Oromia towns u have to be Oromo. That's whats going on

What a shame to what happened to Ras Mekonen monument; in actual fact Harar looks worse that it was over 30 years ago. Ras Hotel was a place to envy and it is no more. Stayed there over 10 years ago and was so disgusting in every aspects! BTW, I was born in the area and baptised at St Selasie church not far from the Ras Mekonen monument!

Wow very sad i saw it 5 yrs ago but didn't stay there, my father used to take me there 20 yrs ago. It was so luxurious. I felt the same bout Ras hotel in Diredawa, the whole Diredawa looks sad and depressing that beautiful city where i grew up broke my heart 💔

It's so nice, I will visit Harrer once, but what are our people doing in our Ancient Heritage which is so hearted and shows our mind where still? Shame on you again, you have done this! Instead of destroying the monuments of the great leaders of the past they should use their time and energy to reconstruct their hateful minds and grow their community. From what I see there is a lot of work that the city needs, destroying a monument will not add one pebble to the old roads or paint to the walls. It’s gone and what have they gained? Do you know where the statute is now after it was removed?

The question you need to ask yourself is that what has your generation done that's worthy of a statue? You don't even know what you're talking about, do you? He wasn't a killer he taught your grandparents how to read, write and lhelped make the city better. Most of all he helped save them from becoming slaves. I am 100% sure you are not from Harrar. Harare is economically worst today than it was 50 years ago. What's your generation known for? Hanging people upside down to death? Killing a human being and dragging their dead body? You don't have an ounce of morals to criticize these people. The misguided youth have destroyed a city the forefathers built. The city growth has gone down economically and structurally. Look into your generations instead of living in the past.
