Intermission, is a break, allowing for movie goers to take restroom breaks, perhaps purchase snacks & or drinks. It allows folks to stretch their legs a bit, or to take smoke breaks etc. Usually for movies that are long. Also keep in mind before they went to digital the movies were on reels, so the reels had to be changed for the second part.

When young Vito came back for Don Ciccio, one of their friends (the one who introduced him) was Tomassino. Tomassino, much older obviously, helped Michael in Italy when he killed the police officer and Sollozo. If you remember, Tomassino walked always with a cane due to a limp. That limp was produced because of the shot on the knee when he was young, in that moment when Vito murdered Ciccio.

No one can be 100% sure, but I always figured that Frankie couldn't snitch in front of his own brother. He shamed him into keeping quiet. It wasn't a threat. It was "just between the brothers", like Michael said.

You can be 100% sure of this: Frank Pentangeli was about to break Omertà, the code of silence. You do not tell on anyone. You go to prison, you might even die, but you don’t tell. Frank was about to break the age-old code. The family brought his brother to watch. Frank couldn’t snitch while his brother was watching.

Michael wasn't smarter than his father, but he was more ruthless than his father. His dad had a good heart but Michael had a heart of stone. I think you guys would truly love a movie called Thief, starring James Caan and directed by Michael Mann. One of my favorite crime dramas of all time.

If your family does something to betray you, that's the line that can never be crossed. Even your brother. Before the assassination, the custom is to kiss the family member. It's called the "Kiss of Death". It's the moment you realize you're dead. Great reaction. I Iiked 2 better than I, also. Brilliant films. If you enjoy Francis Ford-Coppola's work I'd suggest "Apocalypse Now". Probably the best representation of a veteran's experience of the Vietnam War .

Glad I found you guys, it's tough sometimes to find reaction creators who don't ruin it with stupid failed plot predictions and constant mind reading of characters they don't understand. Vito’s friends are Tessio and Clamenza, Tessio was the traitor who tried to set Michael up for a meeting with Barzini. Clemenza was the one who killed Carlo when he strangled him in the car. Fredo Michael’s brother unwittingly exposed his own treachery to his brother Michael when he said he didn’t know who Johnny Ola was, but later on he told a third person while Michael was present that “Johnny Ola told me about this place.”

My grandfather came to America in 1914 from Greece. He was on a cattle ship for 6 weeks. He went through Ellis Island and didn't speak English. They drew a line through his long last name and gave the Caras which is Greek for Grace. I don't know what village he came from.

From wikipedia "The finished film leaves unclear exactly what about his brother's presence motivated Frank to change his story. The final film only states that Vincenzo is himself a Mafia chieftain in Sicily. An early draft of the film explains that Vincenzo, shocked that Frankie is about to break his blood oath and betray the Corleones to government authorities, attends the hearing to remind Frankie that he must not break the Mafia's code of silence, Omertà. His brother's presence, as well as the stare they exchanged, serves as a threat that if Frankie follows through with his planned testimony, retribution will be taken against his children, who are living in Sicily under Vincenzo's guardianship."

Pretty indicative of both Ozarks Arkansas, and most of Appalachia, East TN, NE Georgia, Western Carolina, West Virginia etc. When people not from around here visit and I tell them to stay off certain mountains and they don't understand why. I refer them to this movie. Everybody around here knows a Tear Drop or three.

Michael wasn't going to kill Frank's brother, he just brought him there because to shame him. He knew he wouldn't be a snitch in front of his brother. Frank was breaking an honor code and his brother came to witness it, and show his disapproval. The word of this code of silence is Omerta. Frank was breaking it. He couldn't go through with it with his brother watching.

about your comments for the scene of Frank Pentangeli and his Sicilian brother, I think you are mistaken. Michael does not bring him to threaten Pentangeli to kill his brother if he talks, but to make him ashamed of being a rat to the government. Because his brother is a mafia boss IN Sicily, and Frank would be doing the biggest sin for any member of the Cosa Nostra, being a rat to the police.

The negotiations dinner in the dining hall is great, I think and it drives home the theme that is shown in both previous film but in such a subtle way that most don' even notice; that oranges showing up mean their will be deaths.
