Wearing Habit Rouge Prive today. Beautiful. Kind of reminds me of a blend of the EDT and EDP with less rose and more leather. It's much better than L'Instinct, which I did think was unfairly criticized by people who abhor change, but I must say something - I can definitely smell L'Instinct in Rouge Prive, suggesting to me that there's more Habit Rouge in L'Instinct than snobs want to admit.

That’s a very interesting point! While I strongly criticize L’Instinct, I didn’t find it a bad scent, but quite boring and uninspired. I’ll gige Rouge Prive a sniff, maybe i’m lucky and find traces of L’instinct there. But I can say this about L’Instinct: it does wear well

As for the fragrance, it's no longer available online where I am. I hope it's not selling out and becoming harder to get. There is a boutique near me so I'm going to visit soon to purchase a bottle. you keep saying the word heavy, but it doesn’t wear heavy, and not nearly as heavy as the edt in the 90s and early aughts. It is absolutely beautiful and I wake up looking forward to spraying it every day the last few weeks. i just wish we could have it in an older tall bottle style. edit: I also have been reading that Guerlain reps have been saying the leather is from Oud. I’m curious about this, because I can see that. it’s not tom ford leather or Valentino leather.

you know, you are right! after wearing it compulsively for weeks ( I love it) it is much closer to the edt than the edp. It's just the leather being much more pronounced and the florals that strike me as more velvety than the original. And you are definitely right about the oud. I swear I heard Thierry Wasser say somewhere that there's oud in thge modern version of Habit Rouge and it does make sense.

@@MemoryFlo it’s just a magnificent blend. I may have to buy a second bottle soon just to stash in my armoire for the future. Personally, I’m convinced it is oud because of the way it changes on the skin. It’s funny how every niche house is trying to out do each other with Oud/Rose combos and here Guerlain releases a subtle oud/rose with the heart of Habit Rouge and hardcore H.R. lovers are singing praises while the panty dropping influencers ignore it. thank goodness! fyi, I’m going to look for a way to read your Dune Pour Homme video in english, because that has been my signature scent since the 90s and I really want to hear what you have to say about it. I currently have three bottles, so that should last me 10-15 years because I have expanded my collection so much the last 5 years. I’m in my 50s, so that should be good for me 😎

Those were some very interesting facts you just pointed out! You are right, i’ll try to think of Rouge Prive as a rose-oud. If you find a way for the dune video, let me know

I have Rouge Prive and I feel it is not really lasting even I love it, I just feel I it projects better, it is soon becoming a skin scent. I never had Homme Ideal Cologne and also considering Platine Prive (since it is considered to be same as Cologne). Just wondering how lasting is this one as fresh scent.

Hello! On my skin, neither of them have performance issues, i can feel it on myself throughout the day. Cologne is the same, more or less. I wouldn't call either of them "powerful" scents, but they are satisfactory performance wise. I don't know about Platine, i only wore it on my hand and could detect it clearely half a day later.

@@MemoryFlo Rouge Prive I can smell on my clothes more then on skin (1 week usage). Maybe now the weather will get colder and I will see if this will affect the performance. I feel Guarlain parfumes are all on lighter side. I definitely dont want any beast mode, only sometimes wish they project better, not so close to the skin.
