Really nice toolbox. Just remember to ventilate it after using it outside in cold weather, otherwise condensation can make those nice tools rust.

@SenselessUsername
@SenselessUsername 5 жыл бұрын
Random? Yes and no. There's no "ultimate" workbench nor "ultimate" toolset --- that's a complete illusion; there's what your specific jobs/interests require 80% of the time, at the moment, and the rest. So your assortment will be different from his, and from your own 5years from now... but easy to adjust & optimise for your public-of-one.

D.W. Dunn, and a fair few million of the tens of millions are likely not suitable for holding water any more. Being different and cutsie artistic is awesome, pointlessly ruining a useful tool is just infuriating. It’s not like there’s a whole industry dedicated to making tool boxes or anything.
@charleshetrick3152
@charleshetrick3152 5 жыл бұрын
D.W. Dunn and another thing, why waste the time and supplies to paint the drawer boxes? I make artsy bullshit too, I love me some black iron pipe lighting fixtures but I take steps to make sure the design doesn’t prevent the pipe later being used for its original purpose whilst also adhering to the NEC. When the apocalypse comes and I need to trade useful Black Iron Pipe components for ammo or food or safe passage through the forbidden zone I’m set, but I can’t see how a Jerry Can that used to hold potable water will be useful.
@dwderp
@dwderp 5 жыл бұрын
charles hetrick I get your point, I really do. When I go to a craft fair it's usually a nonstop cringe fest because the housewives there have raided their husband's tool stashes to paint hammers and wrenches and other useful objects. And don't get me started on old handsaws embellished with poorly painted barn scenes. That's a particular pet peeve of mine. But I just can't get worked up over this. It seems to me like he has traded one useful object for another object that is just as useful. Maybe even more so. Now I doubt such a showboat piece is going to see hard use in real life. But I don't see any great harm in it either way. And besides, it is still useful to hold water. Pouring it may be a bit tricky, of course. Bu it'll still hold some. LOL

Super cool idea! If you ever build another one perhaps you could run some small pins or dowels through the shelves and slot the tops of the drawers. This would serve as a keep for the drawers to not fall out on accident.

Very nice. Most creative use of space I've seen in a long time. I'd definitely buy a tool kit like that if it was on the market.

Very cool. I think i need one of these for my Studebaker US6 army truck. Its got 2 Jerry holders next to the fuel tank and a set of road tools/spares would go nicely there.
