Hachidan-Uchi - Composed by Jennifer Wada & Peter Wong, 1984
A signature Soh Daiko piece based on the dynamic movement and double-drumming style of Yodan-Uchi, a piece created by Oedo Sukeroku Daiko. Seiichi Tanaka, master drummer of the San Francisco Taiko Dojo, studied with the Sukeroku School and passed on the elements of the style to Soh Daiko, who expanded the composition and infused it with a unique “New York” energy under the name Hachidan-Uchi, meaning “hitting eight drum sides.”
