I remember this moment being very baffling to me. We went from the final episode where everything got deactivated and Tsukasa emerged from her coma, no mention of what happened to Sora or the sleeping girl, then came two episodes that were unconnected to the main arc....then we got this. Everyone dancing and celebrating.......something, a whole bunch of characters we have not seen before and the sleeping girl is now awake and all is well. I watched this like "Wait....what's going on? Where's Morganna? Is she gone? Is she defeated? Who are all these other characters? What's the party for?" Needless to say, I finished Hack Sign having no understanding as to what I saw. A nice moment, but very puzzling. Would have helped if they had explained some things that had gone down before hand.

@@Erin-bc8ic When the anime ended with the events of last episode it signaled the start of the games. There are four games in this series for the PlayStation system. Once the games are completed and the events are concluded then this episode continues or rather concludes the storyline. It is a fitting ending in a sense because it allows those who have played the games to their conclusions to celebrate with the rest of the characters since this is as much a celebration for the fans of the anime who have played the games to their conclusion and been with the characters every step of their journey as it is for the characters themselves. At least, that was what I thought when I finished playing the games and came across this episode.

So I'm left wondering...where were Bear, Mimiru and most of the others during the events of the games? They were investigating Tsukasa...but they weren't curious about all of the other coma victims? None of them were concerned about this? I've been wondering why it is they went with a completely different cast for the games. With the mentioned above barely making a cameo here and there.

this is just my guess, but I believe that the anime and the game basically tells the same story but from two different perspectives. the anime follows Tsukasa and his friends while the game follows Kite and his and this the ending for both which is why it's called "unison"

Ooo so this is actually explained in the anime. Crim actually sets the stage for the games. Stating that they've done there part and that it may be someone else's turn to figure out the rest. Or something along those lines. I can't remember exactly but I do remember him telling Bear and Mimiru that

@@BallydowseRambler Yep. The major bosses you fight throughout the games are the parts of the AI that kept Tsukasa trapped in the game, Morgana. The cat from SIGN, Macha, is also reincarnated into a different cat character, Mia, as well, which is why she's has an emotional breakdown when receiving a gift from Tsukasa in this episode.

@@connormcintosh4828 I am given to understand that the characters in this storyline are hereafter incorporated into The World as a sort of legend. Naturally it was done partially as a way of keeping the true nature of their role in events hidden from the public. Still it is rather nice to see them get some recognition. And for the people who played the games from beginning to end and found the lack of celebrations at the end somewhat lackluster, this is a good way to conclude things. At least, I found that the party was an enjoyable way of concluding things. The way the game did it gave me a feeling of satisfaction as though every loose end was cleaned up, but I always enjoy the idea of a party to end things like this in fiction. Just my opinion and I hope I am not misunderstanding your statement.

This was a ending in the original as well the last episode is kinda of none canon depending how you take it. But I loved it cause it had some really wholesome moments though for those who didn't play the original. Hack games, which continues the story of this anime from episode 26 or 27 i think with the other characters you might not recognize here, you would be fairly confused.

@xaby996 the episode was created to be a kinda of end to the TV series it has characters from the games in it. Thanks to the end of the original games this while situation couldn't happen. I still like to place it as canon cause I just think it ends alot of things much more happier.
