One of the best, pratical, real world applicable RF Antenna basic design & Measurement course class for the beginner student...Keeps the student learning engaged without overwhelming, superfluous intimidating details.....Really appreciate your VNA calibration verification & connection/setup ESD & damage precautions.....

Great course! 4:52 I really like Michael Ossman's saying "be a good neighbor in the spectrum" :D

NanoVNAs are fairly cheap and very powerful. Highly recommended using one of those to start with.

Thanks for the class. Return loss as you mentioned is incident power/reflected power. Isn't value of RL be bigger for better matched impedance circuits?

could you refer to some textbook where I could find solved problems related to the antenna?

I missed the name of the antenna design software. I have used Xnec2c in Linux quite a bit and 4nec2 seems to more or less work in Wine and probably fine in Windows. As far as I know they are free as in they don't cost money or expire. I don't know if they are better or worse than other options, but it is kind of funny using a GUI to basically fill in virtual punchcards.

May I ask if we put 6db attenuator in series with for example 3db, would it make an equivalent 9db attenuator? Thanks.

dB (decibel) is not a measuring unit but a power comparison tool.
@SMShannon55 Жыл бұрын
But it’s commonly used when making measurements, so it’s not incorrect to say it’s a measurement unit relative to other know quantities.
