Hackeando Carros en Latinoamerica - Jaime Restrepo ekoparty #11 (2015)

This talk is the result of an investigation performed on the tracking and automatization system of a well-recognized brand of American vehicles with great popularity in Latin America. We will show how both economical and high-end cars in the region are plagued by security issues that could jeopardize the security of their driver, passengers and nearby pedestrians. Throughout the presentation, we will review several attack vectors found in the vehicle, from the possibility of remotely executing commands on any car in any supported country, supplanting a cellular cell in order to send instructions to the vehicle, employing social engineering on the drivers and many others.
