This is there for a very long time, its a bug/exploit in the game. You can send a packet that you are capturing a beacon and the game lets you, because they do not check your location. (Once in the beacon circle, the capturing function triggers, they do not check the location so if you can send the trigger sooner, the game lets you). Fix would be pretty easy, they just need to make a check if the robot is really in that location. This is the same problem with abilities also btw. you can trigger them mutiple times. Another option for this to work (if they check location) is to integer overflow the location in order to trick the location check (That would make sense that you did not see them because game renders enemies in given distance only. They can teleport to distant location to overflow the integer, teleportation is a thing and it becomes more powerful now). I would say they are pretty clever.
